Track and electrical/DCC
Westcott/Blunt TAT IV vs Fiehmann SST/7 transistor throttle brake circuits.
Realistic controls in analog DC was the Big Thing 40+ years ago... before DCC. This started 51 years ago with Linn Westcott's True Action Throttle (TAT) circuits in the February 1962 MR. Dennis Blunt added modeled brake valves and brake action in the Aug. 1968 MR. This issue included a great article about prototype air brake operation. The ultimate expression of realistic operation was Jack Burgess "Quarter-size locomotive cab controls" that included the TAT IV, Blunt brake circuits, and all the bells and whistles... literally.
LED question
I am looking some help with a LED. I am trying to replace the factory lights with LED's. I have the resistor soldered to the LED. I know that the LED has a pos and neg. The stock bulbs work, but the LED's don't. I was wondering if there is something keeping the LED from working on the factory light board. It is on a proto 2000 SD 9. Any ideas?

DCC equiped engines stalling on frogs
Ok i have three diesels two from atlas and one from intermountain they all have QSI revolution version 7 sound decoders in them, they work fine but for some reason the two atlas engines will stall on the frogs of my atlas code 100 number 6 turnouts but the intermountain and my other engines with different sound decoders in them travel right through the turnouts with no problem. I am running with a NCE power cab and JMRI. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Wiring a Digitrax PC42
I'm wiring a Digitrax PM42 (4 circuit breaker board) and want to know two things. First, what guage wire (stranded/solid) can I use to wire the 44-pin connector? Is 18 g solid sufficient for input and output? Seems the connector has some pretty small soldering tabs for much else. Wondering about signal loss/amperage capability. By the way, I'm using terminal strips to keep wiring organized. Secondly, instructions say to ground the unit to the booster case; however, I'm using an NCE Power Cab instead of Digitrax. What's a suitable ground therefore?
Thanks!

Bachmann RS3 N Scale problem
Hi everyone. I have an N Scale Bachmann RS3 loco that has died on me. It is code number 64252 - a DCC fitted loco. It has been running fine if a bit restrained in Its performance but today it ran away and I couldn't control it. Fortunately it was running light on an empty track so no damage was caused. I had to kill the power to the track to stop it. Since then it has been dead!
The loco came fitted with a composite board which enables it to be used on analog as well as digital systems. I use a Digitrax Zephry system.
is Kato unitrack DCC compatible?
I'm desiging my layout to use kato unitrack but i've read on several places that it's not DCC compatible...
my layout is N scale, with #6 turnouts and a double crossovers...
also how to i wire the crossover if it's place on a reversing loop?

Walthers Trainline Railtech train set
Hey gang,
I am looking for anyone who has experience with the Walthers Trainline Railtech "train set" that came out a few months ago. In the product literature, it claims to have a Digitrax compatible throttle. I am just wondering if the controller is similar to the Digitrax Zephyr. In other words, can it just plug into the loconet?
How about the overall quality of the set?

How do you deal with the S-Curve in Yard Ladder's?
I am reconfiguring the design for one of the staging yards for the Interim P&A currently under construction. The problem I am running into is the resulting S-Curve caused by the fact there is a left-hand turnout, then a right hand turnout connected to the diverging route of the left-hand turnout.
