Track and electrical/DCC

Wiring a Soundtraxx programming track booster (PTB-100) to a MRC Prodigy Wireless power supply

OOPS, I accidently added this to a previous post. It is intended as a separate question. Sorry.

I was getting ready to wire the Soundtraxx PTB-100 Programming Track Booster to my MRC Prodigy Wireless system when I discovered the PTB-100 had normal wires and the Prodigy cable from the power supply to the command station had a coaxial ??? type cable & plug with a wrapped type wire. (Hard to describe for a electrical illiterate.)

Bachmann 0-4-0 Porter Short Circuit

Hi Guys,

I was messing around with my On30 Bachmann 0-4-0 Porter, running it on my newly laid track. It's a simple layout, 2'x4' with an oval and two switches. I soldered a set of feeder wires to the layout from my other layout, so they share the same main power wires. I have a Digitrax Zephyr. I only have one other HO locomotive.

Crossing Signal/Gate Control

Hello everybody! I was curious about manufacturers for signal and gate control. I was originally looking at ITT products and Signaligic's CR-2 but ITT didn't offer much of what I wanted and Signalogic offered everything I needed but they seem hard to get. I am wanting to use a tortoise to control the gates and if possible use my own crossing sound module. If anyone has a list of manufacturers, please post them here. I appreciate any help!

MRC Decoder Dr

Has anyone purchase the new MRC Decoder Dr yet and if you have how have you found it, as easy to use as its claims?

And how have you hooked it up to our track?  Is it used with your programming track?  Have you added aligator clips so you can use it on several layouts?

Rusty Track!!!!

I began an N scale layout awhile ago. I soldered most of the track into large pieces, then stored them until I could dedicate some more time to building my layout. Today, when I pulled out the track, most of the rail joiners have started to rust. I haven't laid the track yet, I'm still in the building phase. I obviously need to clean the track with something before I permanently install it. I live in Florida and the layout will be in my garage so I see this as a recurring problem. Any ideas on how to remove rust, then how to keep it off???

Thanks-Tim

constant automatic charging 2

we (me and my friend ralf stass from germany) have tinkered about the stanton bps, because it is much too huge for our needs. (the small engines do need help, not those with many wheels).

we use :

a smd bridge-rectifier (1 amp is sufficient for our motors).

a step-down board with built-in potentiometer (from dx.com), regulated to 3,96 volts.

a diode at one output (we have found out, that with this diode the lipo will always be charged-up -

Cinder Ballast Attracted to Magnet

I have cinder ballast from Arizona Rock and Scenic Express. When I pass a magnet over samples of these cinders, nearly all the material winds up on the magnet. I have been assured by one supplier that there is no problem using their cinders with DCC. Has anyone had any issues with cinders from either supplier as far as operation on a DCC layout? Arizona's Yard Mix also demonstrates the same behavior to a magnet.

Anti-Main Power Sector

I'm building a layout with a lower level of staging that feeds an upper level of 2-track main line. The staging level is almost a dogbone, but one end terminates in a "balloon" reversing loop - see the area labeled with XX and W0. Eventually the power will be DCC, but I need to have the choice of DC to run locos that haven't yet been converted.

Progress on Abanakee Lumber Co and Adirondack Southern small 0 Scale layout

I have been finishing the trackwork I have laid (all ties placed, rail painted) to get my out and back loop and yard operational.  I built the control panel and wired in the power districts and breakers.  Imagine my surprise when I fired up the command station and turned on the yard district and poof-red light-short!!  So began a week long debugging session which I will outline so folks might avoid my mistakes.
