Track and electrical/DCC
Raspberry Pi 2 or used laptop
I don't know why but there is something fascinating for me in using a Raspberry Pi 2 to run decoder Pro, et. al. But I also can go to my local used laptop store and purchased a used laptop for less than $100. Other than a much smaller foot print, is there any real benefit of use the Raspberry offering over a used Lap top.
I do have one friend running his decoder pro on the original Raspberry using Linux I believe.

Confusing Electrical Issues
This is a follow up for my previous post.
DCC Control for Tamiya 4v Motor...
Okay, this might sound weird, but here goes. I'm getting back into the hobby after being away for 30 years. Finally settled... So now I have a Layout Room of my own. The layout itself will be started this coming fall, so for now, I'M building the "Major" components, Engine Shed, Servicing , Coal Tower, etc....AND OF COURSE, The Turntable. I'm modeling a Logging Empire, so my TT's are going to be Gallows......1 A-FRAME, 1 SQ FRAME.

Running DC engine with a DCC system
I am building a layout that will be DCC, however I have a lot of old brass that will take some time to install decoders in.
What I had thought of doing is getting a large decoder, something like a 5 amp G scale decoder and wire that between my NCE system and the track. There by replacing a decoder in the tender with a decoder under the layout.
I would then have a separate DCC wire running from the NCE system to the wire bus. Then I would have a switch where I could toggle between running DCC engines and a DC engine on the layout.
Walthers 130-ft Turntable Display Flicker
I have the Walthers 130-ft DCC turntable.
I am using my NCE system to power it. When I have it wired according to the instructions for DCC the display on the turntable controller flickers. It's not much but it is a noticeable continuous flicker. If I pull off wire #1 the flicker stops and comes back when I insert the wire back into #1.
The turntable seems to work fine, nevertheless, but am wondering if that is good for it.
I first tested the turntable using DC and it worked good with no flicker on the controller display.

Lok pilot and digitrax issue... Weird
I have a lok pilot motor only decoder installed in my proto 2000 dcc ready gp7
I programmed in my address (290) and it ran fine on my home layout using a MRC prodigy dcc command station.

What DCC system should I BUY??
Hey everybody thanks for clicking this topic if you're reading this I really appreciate it and hope to hear some pros and cons or just whatever opinions you guys may have on DCC SYSTEMS

looking for recommendation for an N-Scale DCC sound decoder
Hello, I have an n-scale ATLAS Trainmaster SD-60 "DCC ready" I bought an MRC DCC sound decoder
for it only to find out that it was the wrong decoder. I probably have a non DCC ready loco that this will fit.
But I am looking for advice on what to get for the SD-60 that I mentioned above.
Bullfrog Manual Switch Machine
Has anyone any experience with the Bullfrog Manual Switch Machines? I am starting a shelf layout depicting an old time logging operation and thought manual trunouts would slow down operations to what would be more typical of the era verses electrical turnout control.

Crossing flashers with DCC
Hello!
i have some older crossing signals and want to wire them to work with my DCC powered layout. Wondering what suggestions for an inexpensive detection and flashing circuit or circuits. I have looked at some IR systems but would prefer not to have to install above track sensor.
Thanks!
