Help, My Electrical System Refuses to Work

HELP! I have a DIY throttle system on my layout which is made using a Bachmann power pack with Cat 5 wire connecting a SPDT direction switch and a 1K Ohm Potentiometer enclosed in a Radioshack project case. I was running a train on the layout when the loco stalled. I moved it figuring it was a dead spot/ dirty track but the loco refused to move. After a few seconds, the loco would only move at slow speed even when the potentiometer was cranked up to full power.

Graphite rail treatment and NeoLube........

I searched the topic data base and found a lot of threads on Graphite on rails.  As Neo Lube is graphite in alcohol I would have thought this an easy application.  I then searched Neo Lube but found no posts using it for track, only for blackening.  Am I missing something?  Has anyone tried it as a conductivity enhancer?

Thanks,

Peter

Kadee #309 Electro-Magnetic Uncoupler Problem

I'm testing the first HO scale Kadee #309 electro-magnetic uncoupler that I mounted on my layout and I'm not able to get the HO couplers to separate. I'm pretty sure the electro-magnet is wired correctly as I can get a small drill bit to rotate on the track when the uncoupler is engaged.

PC board ties to wire flex track?

Has anyone tried using PC board ties to get power to flex track?

It just occurred ot me, that might be a simpler method than trying to solder to the side of the rail.

  • Clip out one flex tie before fastening to the roadbed.
  • Fasten down the flex track
  • Slip a PC board tie in there and
  • Solder to the nice, big surface of the tie.

Just a thought.

rev loops....

Basically want to know if the insulated joiners (a) are in the correct spot. Im going to use to AR1 for the reverse Loops.

Thanks

Mario

Using Euro block terminal connectors with various wire sizes

I am planning the wiring for a layout and have looked at the specs for Euro connectors which list wire ranges from 12 to 26 gauge.

Are there any issues with mixing 12 gauge bus wires with 22 or finer gauge feeder wires?

Building an Arduino Withrottle controller?

Hi all,

I currently have a laptop set up under my layout, which acts as a withrottle base station via a SPROG3 connection to my layout.

While the engine driver app on my phone works with this, I don't like the touch-screen interface. I prefer to have tactile buttons and control levers.

Train control IS going wireless. DCC will fade away.

Proto87 Stores website much improved

Hey, have you guys seen the new Proto87 Stores website? Much improved!

http://www.proto87.com

I'm not a proto 87 modeler, but they have great products even for us regular HO modelers. No affiliation with P87 Stores, just like their stuff - and I thought their improved website was worth a mention since I was out there shopping for some track goodies. I don't post here much, but I'm impressed with the improved website ... and wanted to pass it on. I mostly lurk ...
