Track and electrical/DCC

Adding DCC to Fox Valley HO GP60

I recently purchased a DCC ready Fox Valley GP60M in the BNSF H3 scheme. I went with HO DCC ready version because I use RailPro. This engine came with the new euro style 21 pin socket that does not fit any of the adaptors harnesses I already have. I have found some from TCS (TCS 1352) that might have helped but I decided just to completely delete the factory circuit board and all of its built in resistors for the installed led lights. I measured the chip bit resistors and will be using 1k resistors to resupply the power to them from the RailPro decoder.

Spur track problem...

After gluing down a spur track and testing it with a free-rolling car, I noticed that the car wants to roll just enough out of the spur to foul the other track. There is just the slightest slope, of course in the wrong direction to this spur. I think I will need to remove the track, and rasp down the foam to give it a little slope in the other direction. But, that is going to be a pain so I thought I'd ask if anybody had a better solution. So, do you?

JMRI website down?

*Edit - My bad looks like things are back to normal or was on my end.

Fast Tracks turnouts

When I started my new layout I decided to go with the Fast Tracks jigs initially thinking of purchasing their dual  gauge system which was $150 for the assembly fixture, but realized I would need two, since I would need narrow gauge on both left and right. Since I only needed 6 dual gauge turnouts the cost would not be justified so I settled for a standard gauge #6 code 70 assembly jig. I bought this along with the point / frog tool, and 5 laser cut tie sets.

Wiring and hand laid crossing

On my small layout I am planning I will have a crossing that I want to hand lay. I remember years ago trying to wire up an all metal Tru-Scale crossing that never went right. Does anyone have info on wiring up a crossing with DCC? Is an autoreverser needed?

Best/cost effective circuit breaker and auto reversers

All,

As I continue to shop and build my wiring plan, I was looking for feedback on who makes the best breakers and reversers. I have heard pros and cons for relays or solid state components. Using Digitrax Command Station, Tam Valley boosters and with about 15 or so sections for breakers, and 3 reverse loops. HO scale too.

Thanks in advance.

Problems with Walthers Proto GP30

I have a set of Walthers Proto GP30s with tsaunmi sound decoders.  I received them over a year ago as a  present from my wife.  I programmed them with JMRI and placed them on the layout.  They are consisted.  They ran and sounded great.

Tsunami Lighting Question

Question for anybody that knows..

I'm pretty sure I fried the headlight output on a TSU-1000 as there is no voltage output (my own fault).

If I was to connect the headlight to one of the other outputs (F5), can the CV's then be programmed so it acts as the headlight output?

Thanks

How to get started using Arduino equipment?

I been looking for past post topics of how get started in learning and using the Arduino equipment. From all you experienced users whats the best way to get started. I used to know my way around programing back in the days of turbo pascal fortran rpgii cobol..and some industrial plc programing. Trying to learn jmri now. But its been 20 years. Ive seen some starter kits. What do some of you recommend????
