N Scale Atlas code 80 and live frogs
I have a substantial investment in Atlas code 80 track. I'd love to follow the concept of using a limited number of track manufacturers to cut down on compatibility issues, but at the same time I'd like to have powered frogs in my turnouts. I don't think Atlas offers those in N scale.
Any ideas or suggestions?

Length of double crossing with #6 turnouts - HO
So I'm trying to come up with a track plan and thought I was finally making some progress until I realized that I failed to consider the length of a double crossing. I'm planning on a double-track main and want to be able to cross over my EB and WB trains. I'd be using four number #6 turnouts and a 19 degree crossing. HO gauge.
I'm thinking this whole thing is around 3 feet long? Am I right? I don't want to use any smaller turnouts because I'll be running 65' (9"+ real life) passenger cars.

First time turnouts...
I decided to follow my model railroad hero who said self made turnouts are the best way to go. I just finished my first attempt and I love making turnouts. Now I am going into an ad for Fast Tracks. I decided to use their equipment and I can not say enough about each piece I purchased and the instructional videos supplied. I am building #6 turnouts using their track assembly fixture, point filing jig, the StockAid filing jig and ending up on their QuickSticks. The videos are very are well done and do not leave you needing more information.

Control Panel for my HOn3 PC&N Ry
Today I put the finishing touches on my latest control panel for my PC&N Ry. I reporposed an old document frame and created the track schematic using Power Point. Once I had the schematic printed I took it to my local Office Depot and had it laminated with .010" thick plastic to protect it.
Next I used the frames cardboard insert as a pattern to cut out a piece of 1/8 inch Masonite and glued my laminated schematic to it. I then glued some scrap pine strips to hold the panel into the document frame permanently.
ESU Equipped GP20 Headlight Not Functioning
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to set up my Walthers Proto High Hood GP20 with an ESU Loksound Select Micro, both brand new. I plugged in the decoder and all sound and drive functions work. Yet I cannot get either light to function. Am I doing something wrong? Are there known issues out there? This is definitely frustrating.

Turnout Control via Servos through Thick Roadbed - Question
Hi folks,
I'm getting close to finishing up a crossover at the west end of Circleville, which means my mind is turning - perhaps belatedly - to turnout control.
My preference is to use servos, and for this installation, I'll probably purchase from a vendor to keep the learning curve a little less steep.

How many colors of wire do you use and for what function(s)?
In connection with the discussion about sources for purchasing wire I'm curious which colors of insulation people choose and what colors are assigned to which functions. Sorting out DCC bus lines and lines for switch motors or other accessories is obvious but with the advent of so many electronic devices I'm wondering what systems folks use on their own layouts to keep all this stuff more clearly identifiable and organized.

Sources for electrical hook up wire
So - am wanting to start accumulating an inventory of bulk, electrical, hook up wire for my forth-coming layout build project - for bus wires, feeder wires, etc.
I'm sure I could source it locally, but was curious if there was a good on-line source for this type of material. Thanks in advance for your input!

Atlas Master GP-40. Decoder Equipped, or is it?
I just picked up two NOS Rio Grande Atlas GP-40's. Never opened. The boxes both state they are Dual Mode Decoder Equipped.
I need some help from the electrically inclined out there
I am planning to use LED strip lighting on the lower level of my double deck layout. I want to use 12-volt 24-watt strips. I have a couple wired in now and they work great.
My question is about powering these strips. I am looking for a 12-volt 20A 240-watt power supply. My assumption is that I can power 10 light strings with one of these power supplies (24Wx10 strings = 240W). I have two 20A circuits in my train room set aside for these lights. Am I correct to think I can only connect one of these power supplies to a 20A circuit or is there more to it than that?
