I am wondering where I would be able to purchase an CTT HO track planning template?
Design Question - Curves Within An Industry
Because I'm only using a 12 x 12 space in my basement, I've decided to make the layout a pure switching layout. Basically, a single industry covers the entire layout. I will have staging tracks at one end, with a small section of "main line" leading into the actual industry.
Turnout sizing
I am working on planning on a layout based on the Milwaukee road going though Montevideo MN and some surrounding towns in the 1950's era. I am trying to in some form or another to recreate the yard and roundhouse in Montevideo. Some questions I have right now are related toturnout and yard sizing. Can I use #4 turnouts in the freight yard? I plan on using #6 on any mainline, due to running passenger service through (Monte was on the mainline and had the olympia hiawatha that came through). I have some ideas sketched out and have started

New track plan. Looking for suggestions.
I have been toying with the idea of building a small switching layout inside the house, separate from my big layout, for awhile now. Unfortunately, the problems that I am having with the building my layout is in has possibly accelerated plans for this construction. The large layout may have to go in order to gut and rehab the building that houses it. I have an 8' X 8' room between the master bedroom and bathroom that is almost unused. I believe everything is to scale in the picture, but no guarantees as my Anyrail-fu is weak. Suggestions are welcome.&nb
Need some help guys
ok guys I have the train room ready to start building a layout. I have been looking at track plans like there is no tomorrow. I have the entire which is 11x17. in the pic the "dashed" area will be on casters to allow access to the closet (holiday decor and misc.) The entrance into the room will have a lift out bridge. I am thinking of a yard under the layout...I've played around with SCARM, and not very happy with the results..I'm open to ideas, plans, comments etc...I'm modeling the mid to late 90s.
power plants
I was needs some ideas. I started building this power plant for my layout. I was needing opinions on this. does this power plant look real. Or how or what can make it look realistic
A question about ceiling lights
I'm in the middle of installing recessed lighting. I have a run along one wall, 24" from the backdrop, which is pretty much right above the edge of the layout. After some experimenting I found that to be where I like them.
