Diesel locos
open gears
Are there any manufacturers that build N guage engines without open gearing in the bottom of the trucks?
Athearn F45 DCC sound
I have had my NCE powercab for a while now and have only over the last few months come into purchasing my first sound loco. The first thing is apparently you can change how to loco functions by changing the CVs...I have no clue how to come up with the Value after i put in the CV ? or even if i am putting in the correct CVs at all ?
Any help with this would be great, be kind I am new to world of programing decoders (haven't attempted it before now)
Nick.

What speaker would the MRH brain trust suggest for
use in a Kato SD40-2 ?
Spec requirement is 4 to 16 ohms.
IAIS's West End - fun Tsunami revelations - now with video
Happy (early) Father's Day to me!
An un-named fellow out our model railroad club has been bugging me to purchase the new Athearn Genesis GP38-2 that was recently released for the good old Louisville & Nashville (among others). I've been resisting the best that I can, but then Father's Day is just around the corner.........................
Well, you know what happened...."resistance is futile". Here's a shaky iPone(tm) video of the loco running around the club layout:
RailPro users - How do you think Notching should work?
I've been playing around with my RailPro and although I had some problems getting Manual Notching to work properly, I now have it working.
In my mind, I'd like Notching to work differently.
...so I am posting this to get other users feedback and hopefully have something useful to present to Ring Engineering as a possible feature enhancement.
Bachmann RS3 Truck Problems
I just purchased a Bachmann RS3 sound value (with SoundTraxx decoder and sound) last week and as many have commented, it is a very smooth runner and the sound is really nice. After a brief test, I repainted it for my road, then programmed it (adjusting the speed and sound values) and put it into service today.
Two Monsters waiting for service.
Starting to look a lot like the HBR
Sing it to the tune of "It's starting to look a lot like Christmas". It has been a while since my last update so I thought a quick update was in order. Some progress has been made on lower staging but nothing blog worthy. Too many other things like work, home and family going on to focus much on track work.
