HO CF-7 angled cab shell; any road name

If I were to obtain same, what would be best non-Athearn chassis to use, giving correct overall length,

wheelbase, truck side frames? Am sure someone, somewhere has done this. Open to suggestions. Thank

You in Advance. TTFN.....Old Tom in NH

HO Whip antenna : material choice?

Dear MRHers,

Just a quick one, am looking at a few upcoming loco projects which appear on the prototype to use whip antennas.

Starting with the baseline that 1" in HO is around 0.010",
and the dia of a whip antenna is usually based around a standardised threaded 5/16" base,
we're talking an antenna in the order of 1/4" or 0.002" dia in HO.

The GP50 Does Work After All

However, it doesn't work consistently. Both lights come on, but I had to squeeze the frame halves together and it sometimes ran, other times did not. I got it to go back and forth on the sections of test track I put together.

So I know it works, but I think there is something wrong. I took the frame apart and put it back together with no joy.

I am now thinking that the brushes, which supply power from the trucks to the frame are dirty or bad. I can clean them, but I can't get the trucks themselves apart.

GP38 in need of a chassis

Just got this in the mail Saturday. It's a GP38-2 in need of a power chassis. I was thinking of using the Auto Torque Transmission I've developed.

Shark attack -- mounting a Tyco shell on a Bachmann chassis

Has anyone tried mounting a Tyco Sharknose shell onto a Bachmann Sharknose frame/drive?  I have an old Johnson Wax set that I'd like to get resurrected, but the idea of trying to tune up the Tyco to come close to DCC seems to be a lost cause, and a Bachmann DCC-already drive seems like a much better idea -- if it fits.

Thanks in advance,

Can you identify this motor?

Hey Gang,

Today, I got another hot buy at a local train show. It was a large bag of parts and in the bag of parts were these motors:

I really can not tell what the flywheels are made out of but they are not brass, obviously.

There is no name on the side of the can, so I am thinking this is some sort of generic motor used by a loco manufacturer at some point.

Ditch lights.

A question for any and all willing to give me some ideas   Ditch lights.  I've gotten in the habit of trying to add ditch lights to a loco that I fix up, add DCC to, or just refurbish, DC or DCC.  What are you guys using?

I've gone through a pile of tiny incandescent bulbs trying to find the perfect mix of brightness and resistor.  Maybe I should go to LED's ?

NY,V & N Rwy. get's a new SW8 in TT scale

The New York, Vermont & Northern Rwy. acquired a brand new SW1200. Unfortunately it doesn't come in un-dec. I will need to remove the lettering first. More to come on this model since it's an unusual model, at least for the NY,V & N Rwy.
