The model Loveland yard on the Great Western Railway has been operational for close to 4 years now but little scenery or detailing has been done.  It’s been mostly unweathered track, Homasote with dirt paint and a photo covered engine house mockup.

Last month we looked at the staging yard on the Kanunda and Emu Flat Railway my medium sized South Australian prototype HO scale layout set in 1984.

Just found out I don't have as much space as I thought. This is the resulting plan.

The GP50 moves quite well after I removed a bit of excess lubricant - if I move the brushes first. I think ithe entire locomotive needs cleaning and lubricating. My Maintaining and Repairing Your Scale Model Trains recommends washing with a mild detergent. What so you use?

Construction progress on the West End has made some strides this past week. Most of the sub-roadbed is down. Luan salvaged from the old railroad wa installed on risers with cork roadbed and cork squares from a local craft shop. This will deaden the noise and serve as a base for track laying.
