Creating a Kit Builder Exchange

Creating a Kit Builder Exchange

The New TSR rises.......

How time fly's.... In May I started taking down the old TSR. It stands now as an empty room painted in a neutral color, ready for the hew owner of the house. I will post a few pics soon.

On Sept 2 we moved into the new house and on Sept 9th I took the big pile of wood that I had salvaged from the old layout and re-started again. Sorry, no track plan yet, though I do have a vision I am working toward.

Here is my first 90 days of effort, combining new and old wood into the new bench work

Pictures with Santa! New for the 2014 Winter Open House

For the first time ever, Santa will be stopping by the San Leandro Historical Railway Society to run his trains during our 2014 Winter Open House! He's agreed to let the wonderful boys & girls who will be there tell him what they want for Christmas and take pictures! Santa understands that we're trying to raise money to have our 116-year-old Southern Pacific depot painted soon, so he's asking that folks donate $10 and, in return, they'll get a great glossy 5" x 7" picture with him in his "casual" train wear!

Steel Wheel Help

I am in the process of converting the last of my rolling stock (30 or so) to steel wheels. I have a number of older kits which are really neat, what with metal side frames, metal bolsters and plastic wheels all supported by tiny, pain-in-the-ass metal springs that took me forever to install. The problem, as I started on a really nice boxcar, is that I noticed the all metal trucks. Plus and minus voltage meets in the middle and my Digitrak Zephyer just screams at me when that happens.

Southern Pacific Covered Gondola

Southern Pacific Covered Gondola

To Al: Today I present a Quality Craft Kit of a Southern Pacific covered gondola for steel transport. Not many railroads opted for this monster. I painted, lettered and weathered this car a decade or so back. I use this car in service to Granite City Steel on the layout. Yours, Elvin Howland/E. St. Louis Rail Group Layout
