I had some time to take a few photos of the layout recently, here is one of my favorites:

A new beginning for the SP&S 5th sub; aka from "Shed" to...

I really have not had much to post as I have been transitioning not only to a new job but to a new location. I have finally been able to move from the Midwest back to the Pacific Northwest. With the open plains, lack of mountains and Tornadoes in the rear view mirror I get to start over on the Spokane Portland & Seattle 5th subdivision, The Oregon Trunk.

Middle school model RR: linkage

With roadbed in place on the risers at the appropriate grades and vertical curves it’s finally time to start laying track. At least that’s what it seems like to the students. But there are a number of design decisions that need to be resolved before any track can actually be fastened to the homosote.

Pulling Power

When filming last night for our club's Ft. Hunter display (to be posted in a few days), I ran into a problem with a 15 car, weighted train. My Bachmann Berkshire was unable to pull the string with Digitrak power set as high as 80 percent. Wheels barely moved while the sound gave the indication that we were running at speed.
