Quebec and Ontario based Canadian Modular Homelayout

Hello MRH community,

my name is Marc (34) and I'm modeling Parts of the CN, CP and QGRY network in Ontario and Quebec, Canada.

My home layout is modular, so I can attend some FREMO meetings if there's one not too far away.

I'm modeling in N-Scale and our group performs regular ops session with waybills, car cards, dispatcher or callboard (depending on the amount of present operators).

Fun With Flat Cars

People who visit my layout often mistake me for a “serious” model railroader.  While I may be enthusiastic, eager, enthralled, happy, engaged and other positive attributes, I am not entirely serious.

I often have fun placing humorous or disconcerting elements in various scenes.  As I have said before, I amuse myself sometimes.

Limon Layout building bridges

Started investigating wood Howe Truss bridge kit options for my layout. I looked at kits on the internet and searched the forums, and then I came across Black Bear Scale Models. They offer a template system and then kit packs of wood and other bits to build them. So I figured out cost wise you make an initial template buy then all you had to buy was more wood bundles.

First trains running on the Duluth & Iron Range Lakefront Division!

The track crew (me) has been hard at work putting down handlaid code 55 track. The crew has gotten from Two Harbors to Knife River in the past few days. I've used up my wood ties, and I have another hundred feet or so of mainline that will be laid with ME c55 flex track.

The real Lakefront Division was completed in 1886 as a requirement for the D&IR to satisfy the conditions of the land grant they received from the state. It ran for 26 scenic miles along the north shore of Lake Superior from Duluth to Two Harbors, MN.

Power Districts, BDL168's, PSX-AR & PSX-1 Locations...

At our last Ops Session we noticed that Rutherford Yard was tripping the entire layout (through the DCC Command Station) via the common rail.

My TOMA layout components

After seeing the details of the TOMA layout concept. I realized that I have always built in a TOMA style myself. On one hand my dioramas are static models and I agree with that. But my other larger modules are all TOMA candidates.

Turnout problem

Ok, I'm open to advice. Here's the problem, and it's in the middle of the layout already "nailed down."

CarFloat Plans?

Does anyone know of a source for carfloat plans? I am considering lasercutting it in a mix of materials but a, looking for some basic dimensions of a simple compact bridge system and the basic detail of a float (could 3d print details) thanks for any help and if possible some of your own carfloat models,
