Documentation for my railroad
Sometimes, you just feel the urge to create a booklet of Waybills based on one you found on the internet.

A meandering blog...
I have been here for one year, as of today. I'm thinking of doing just a single blog, but, it might be a bit all over the place if I do (as I am a sort of "all over the place" kinda guy) This week, I may be all about Oscars and Pikers, and the next, about wood burning steam locos, and maybe the following week, I'll be obsessed with Steampunk... or Tongue in Cheek... or the history of a company that has made model railroading stuff forever!
Nickle Creek & Western HOn3
A first time model railroad by a person who has never done anything with model trains.
Building The CMMR
This is a blog to chronicle the progress of my HO layout, the Central Manitoba Model Railroad, or CMMR for short. It is loosely based on a local shortline, the Central Manitoba Railway (CEMR), which is owned by CANDO.
Please feel free to comment.

The surprises of shooting macro
I'm taking photos of some Gunderson 5188 covered hoppers in HO from ScaleTrains.com, and one of the lenses I use is a Tokina 100mm macro.
Macro lenses don't miss a thing.
You really don't see the fine details in the itty-bitty screen on the back of the camera, but when you bring that photo up, properly cropped, in Photoshop on a 4K screen, even a 15.6" laptop one... well. You see what the camera saw.
Like this odd threadlike thing on the front hopper bin that I'll have to go back and look at the model to see what it is:
Animating Limestone Quarry Operations
I've started to build my layout. The layout will contain HO standard gauge, HOn3 timber and coal line and the HOn30 will be the quarry line.
This blog will document the building of animated structures on the quarry line, the timber and coal line.
More in the next post.

NOTE: Renamed the subject line to better fit the project.
Wiring in progress
Of all the parts of the hobby, wiring is my least favourite . You spend a lot of time working on it but change is not obvious.
I have all of the bench work completed where I was able to. I put led strip lights under the top level so I can see my track while doing the wiring. I got my turntable in and the roundhouse repaired an set in place.
Here are a couple of panoramic views of the layout to date.
A quick look at the Rapido GMDD SW1200RS
I received my Rapido SW1200RS's (one undecorated and one painted) this morning, so I thought I'd give the people still waiting for their own a teaser.
The cab and ground light effects make for interesting low light operations
