My first module - Finally the trees

The last step, was adding the trees.

I used Woodland Scenics ready made trees at the back with an additional dusting of their ground cover product.

The foreground trees are a mix of fantastic Canyon Creek trees and small trees formed out of Woodland Scenics Fine leaf Foliage.

In Defense of Car Kits - Give 'Em Some Weathering and They're Fine

If I lived in a perfect world, my freight car fleet would be nothing but the good stuff. You know what I'm talking about. Factory assembled Intermountain, Kadee, Bowser, Titchy Train Group, you get the drift. But alas, I don't. And on top of that, (1) I'm a College Student, and (2) budget. So that leaves me with good old Blue Box, Accurail, and Roundhouse cars. But wait, you can't disguise all that molded on detail under weathering!

Electrical work for the swing gate track

I got most my wiring done on the swing gate so when it is open there isn’t any power on the gate and 18 inch’s of dead tracks off the gate. I wasn’t thinking about how many switch’s I required to do this when I was in the planning stages. As a result I currently only turn off the power on one end of the approach to the gate. I will purchase a couple more switches in the near future and complete the wiring.

Oct 29 - Bachmann Echo Valley

I got my first kit working. I modified the track by adding a right and left turnout so that there are two loop sizes the train can traverse - a smaller one and a larger one. The sounds that you can control from the DCC controller feels great to hear
