Possible track plan change

Glockner's Fresh Seafood

New Shipper on the NOGNRR

This structure just came off of my workbench about a month ago.  All of the surface detail is not yet in, but I thought I'd post another shot of the building.  Glockner's is entirely scratch built.  The Crescent Lines ice reefer spotted at the building is a custom car produced by the Crescent City Model Railroad Club in New Orleans a number of years ago.

Shelf Layout Eastward Expansion

Finally broke through the apathy barrier that stood between the existing layout and eastward expansion.

Personal journey - Nov 11 update

I got my SoundPro to play VSD files. ... :-)

I located VSD files for Class64, Class94, EMD_645_Turbo, EMD_NW2, GE_7FDL and Generic_Steam

Next, I am going to see  whether I can add my own sounds to build a custom VSD file.

Questions and Answers during my model railroad journey

During my journey, I had some questions for which I found my answers. I am jotting those here so it can jog my memory and may also help others. I plan to edit this as I move along my journey

Scale

-Q -  Should I choose HO or N? N scale is small and you may have difficulties

-A - It was not that difficult working with N, as far as placing a loco on a track and control with a throttle. For me, as I was space constrained, it helped me get more track in the same square foot of space

2018 Trainfest

I've never been to Trainfest before, so when I heard that MRH wasn't going to have a booth this year I begged, whined, and pleaded for Joe to send me solo.

So here I am, with cameras in hand.

New announcements this morning include the revealing of Value Trains USA's first product, the PS-2 4427 in N scale from Athearn, and Rapido will be producing the US standard SW-1200 in HO (including the SP model with full light package) . Yes, Rapido has an SP fan on staff.

Staging help

I’m finally getting back to the layout. I purchased a few PSX boards from DCC Speialties to use on the layout. After looking over the paper work they talked about using their board for controling hidden staging  by turning off power to tracks. The digest using photo cells that send a signal to power down the board. Then writing a macro to turn it back on.

Im using Digitrax for DCC, can somebody explain what I need to do?
