I've never been to Trainfest before, so when I heard that MRH wasn't going to have a booth this year I begged, whined, and pleaded for Joe to send me solo.

So here I am, with cameras in hand.

New announcements this morning include the revealing of Value Trains USA's first product, the PS-2 4427 in N scale from Athearn, and Rapido will be producing the US standard SW-1200 in HO (including the SP model with full light package) . Yes, Rapido has an SP fan on staff.

Value Trains USA

Value Trains USA is based in Marshall, Missouri and is out to demonstrate that model railroad cars can be made in the United States. Their first product is a mid-70s ACF 50'6" boxcar. The first release is a little unusual - the Union Pacific Heritage Scemes on boxcars, and a Value Trains USA boxcar. An undecorated model is also available.

Value Trains

Hopefully there is a big demand for those cars from Value Trains.  Seems a bit risky to have those as your first ever run, but perhaps they'll sell a pile of them.

Walthers

Walthers has some new items to show, including a new 89-foot flat car, some new buildings, and an N scale bridge system. They are also developing a concept they call Pathways, which is a loose structure for growing a train set into the hobby of a lifetime.

Scott Thornton was busy showing off the ProtoThrottle at the Spring Creek Trains booth, and I know of two that were upgraded to the new firmware (mine and SoundTraxx's George Bogatiuk's).

Jeff and Joe: Thanks.

Jeff:

Thanks for whining and begging....and  oh, yes....taking those photos.

Joe:

Thanks for letting him go.

These photo reports are invaluable to those of us without enough time, health, or money to travel to distant events.

Bachmann

I do have a couple of Bachmann photos, but only on my camera.

They had a couple of boxcars and train sets that were new since Kansas City.

Model costs

With all the factories in China closed, and them retaliating against the tariffs, I'd like to know, how this will affect the modelers buying of said product, and how are the manufacturers dealing with finding new locations to make the products ? This seems to be a hush hush topic, yet I'd like them( the manufacturers) to answer it.
