Couple things off the workbench.

Hey everyone, Here,s a teaser for one of the projects I'm working on. This was one of the very first f-units I got, A-B-A lashup of blu-box F-units. B-units about to get a sound-chip, motor, etc., and the other A-unit will eventually get the same treatment. Weathered with a light coat of grime and some rust on the truck sideframes.

I'm still alive, LOL!!

Hey everybody, link to my latest video showing the temporary workbench setup I've got for the next couple months while we look for a house. Just finished taking one of my old Blue Box units and adding truck lights, illuminated number boards, marker lights, and the headlight. I'll have a couple photos up soon and then a workbench update in a couple weeks once I get enough stuff done. Anyways, thanks for watching as always, and link below.

Hocking Valley 2.0 - The End

Due to the sudden death of my mother, the timetable for moving and dismantling the layout has been scrunched up considerably. As such, I will start dismantling immediately after these sessions are streamed. There will be one final update outlining the final progress as well as what to expect from the channel. After that, I'll probably remain off of YouTube aside from comments and keeping up with subscriptions. Videos will pick up again in a few months with a look at the temporary workbench setup. Until then, thanks for joining me on the journey and see you on Hocking Valley 3.0

Spectrum 2-6-6-2 on a 2% grade

Is it even possible to get a Spectrum 2-6-6-2 to pull 10-13 coal hoppers up a 2% grade? I had planned on having a fleet of five or six of these to use as the mainstay of my coal-hauling fleet just like my protoype. I already plan on going back to the two I have and figuring how to cram weight into the steam and sand domes as well as some lead sheets to the tender for more pulling power.

Learning from my mistakes - or downsizing from 10X14 to 8X10

With the impending move coming up, I've made the observation that most bedrooms are 10X10 or smaller. So after numerous tries, this is what I've come up with for an 8X10.

Before you look at it, here are the biggest mistakes I've made with this layout.

(1) Inadequate isle width. Not much I can do about this one without making the other mistakes again. All isles are 16" wide. Not enough to put the layout on the operating circuit, but wide enough that I could have two or three people over.

1.5v Bi-color red/green leds and 1.5V surface mount LED's, fiber optic

Does anyone know where I could pick up some of these? They'll mostly be used for locomotive marker lights, ground lights, and backup lights. I would prefer to stick with 1.5V bulbs as I've always had success with those over anything else.

Thanks for the advice in advance.
