Athearn Genesis GP39-2 Problem

Last October, my (very understanding) wife got me an Athearn Genesis GP9-2 (MKT) for my birthday. Outstanding detailed model and it ran just fine up until a couple of months ago. On my switching layout, I never run the models over 10 scale miles per hour, but I had given the model quite a few minutes of break-in time on an oval of track I keep for such purposes.

Sound Improvements to Older Kato Locomotives

I have two 10 year old Kato HO locomotives which reflect the then state of the art in terms of DCC sound. The main limitation, in my opinion, was the beautifully detailed but solid Kato shell  restricted the sound escaping to reach our ears.  Actually, there were several members of our club  with similar locos which share these feelings.

DecoderPro TCS WOW and PROTO THROTTLE settings

I am having trouble finding information on recommended setting for the WOW Diesel decoders, and the matching settings for the Proto Throttle.   Does any one know of a source for this information?

Thanks

Atlas HO GP7: Can it handle 15" Radius Curves?

Will the Atlas HO GP7 negotiate a 15" radius curve without trouble? I realize the coupler overhang might be a problem, but will it make it through the curve?

Lowering Athearn blue box locos

Hello everyone

I am working on a trio of Smoky Valley Frisco GP15s using Athearn blue box GP 38 frames and trucks. I have searched on the forum but I'm not finding anything about my question so I'll just put it out here. I remember an article (perhaps by Jim Six) about how to lower the Athearn body about 6 scale inches. It seems I remember something about using a Dremel tool to mill around the truck kingpins?
