Engine Not Controllable

I have a Broadway Limited NS SW-1500 switcher(jitem 3343) with a Paragon 2 sound decoder.  I have a Digitrax system and was using a UT4 throttle to run the engine.  The engine is 4 years old and has been running great until yesterday.  I was switching cars when I reversed the engine.  The engine did not move.  When I reversed the engine again it started running in the other direction at a high rate of speed.  The throttle knob was at 0.  I tried other throttles I have(DT500), DT602).  I turned system off and tried again.  Same thing.

Bowser Executive MLW 630 / Loksound V5 Grade Crossing and Ditch Light Programming

I got this locomotive a couple of weeks ago and generally love it.  The paint is lovely, it sounds decent and runs really well.  I often chased BCR trains along Highway 97 as a young guy running empty home in my pilot car (a college summer job that paid decent and got me on every highway in BC).  The line became a favourite.

Project Organizer

Hello all,

Here is a photo of a project organizer I built towards the end of last year (2020) to help me be better organized when it comes to the many modeling projects that I have. (For some reason the projects seem to multiply)

When I get more time I'll post more photo's as a how-to on this project.

Stay tuned.

What is this red vertical object on 44T

is this a fuel hatch? I have not been able to identify the mystery red object.

also, what might  the very worn faint  lettering possibly read directly below ?

thanks for any info.

Improving Sound on HO Kato Diesels

There is no question in my mind about the fidelity of Kato HO locomotive shells. The tooling is superb and continues to improve. The downside is the shells are solid so there is little choice in installing a speaker for DCC sound. And on the recent units I modified, the frames were pretty much a road bock to sound routed through the bottom.

Locomotive (Steam & Diesel) Pulling Capability Tests

This is not meant to be a detailed analysis of this subject,...there are a number of those in other subject threads on this forum.,..ie, https://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/38742

Rather this a few general observations of the subject I experienced recently.

Best Sellers, Santa Fe vs BNSF

When I was growing up many of us were exposed to then Lionel train ads that often picture the infamous Santa Fe paint scheme. When Proto 2K came out with their PA's in that scheme I just had to have a set, even while I was becoming a fan of eastern railroads (B&O, C&O, etc).

That famous color scheme just stuck with me.

Coupler height mismatch on diesel.

I have an Athearn GP-7 whose couplers are running about 1/2 coupler height too high (maybe by 1/16"?) as measured by a Kadee coupler height gauge (on a level, straight test track). My freight cars are all measuring at the correct height, so this is proving to be a periodic problem.
Unfortunately, I see no way to adjust them --- does anyone have a workable solution?

Thanks!

Allen
