Hemming and Hawing and otherwise Procrastinating

I've got a 10' wide by 11' long room.  I've built my benchwork in the rough shape of a "U."  8.5' on the North, 8.5' on the East, 6' on the west. The N&E sides are 40" wide and the West side is 16" wide.  All legs have wheels so reach is not an issue.  Great!

critics everywhere - Comments Locked.

A group of Model Railroaders visited Michelangelo’s studio to see his new project. Here is a report.  Names have been masked to protect the critical.

MRR 1: That table in the middle of the room really cramps your imagination. If I it were mine I would go for around the walls on a shelf - then you could get more than twelve operators.

N Scale plan for review

Here is a prototype based plan for an industrial switching area around Wallula, Washington I am considering building. It's one of three plans under consideration for a 19 x 20 foot townhouse basement space. This one is pretty strongly influenced by the Finley industrial area, Boise Cascade paper mill at Wallula, and interchange between BNSF and UP in the area, plus the WATCO shortline that runs here and switches the paper mill.

N Scale Motor/Gearbox Linkage Help

Hello, I have two N scale steam engines that are identical. One has vinyl tubing that connects the motor rod to the rod that connects with worm gear and gear housing shown here:

Dissapointed in MR

Are my expectations too high or did MR really bomb this month? I read it cover to cover and then realized I didn't learn a single thing. Not even the tiniest of detail tidbit of new knowledge. That's sad for a reader who has only been back in the hobby for 2 years after a 40 year lapse.

MRH, you have ruined me with your excellent articles. C'mon MR, pick it up a bit please.

How best to "operate" this plan??....

I'm a good ways away from any sort of operation on my new HO venture but operations are on my mind anyway because I think they will have some bearing on the final configuration and theme of the railroad. I'd like to start a discussion here and hopefully get a lot of input.
