What 3d Printer

To all,
A few of us are pooling our money together to get a 3D printer and we are looking for help on what would work best for us here are some detail:

Modeling G to N scale.

Only one of us has worked with a CAD program and would like to find a program that is easy to use for all user.

One question we have is why is one printer better then other.

Any help or suggestion would be helpful our budget is about $2500

Photo / Image Software Questions

I am wondering about what software program would be a reasonable all around program to use in my model railroading projects.  I would like to be able to:

1. create logos and signs for decals etc

2. edit photo's for use on backdrops (resize, remove sky and other objects, etc.)

MRH marketing merchandise - I want to purchase a T-shirt, please!

I would love to have a few MRH T-shirts that I can wear to my RR clubhouse, train shows, etc. I hereby commit to purchase a minimum of (2) two MRH T-shirts (size XL) at a maximum price of $12.00 each (excluding shipping). I would also be interested in a hat, coffee mug, and mouse pad.

Are there others out there willing to make a commitment? If so, please post here or perhaps Joe F can set up a pole?

Joe, please consider selling promotional material! I would be proud to wear, own & display MRH stuff. Think about the additional advertising! What do you say, Joe?

Modeler Tip - How to erase shadows from your backdrop

Room lighting can cast shadows on your backdrop ruining pictures and viewing. A shadow of a tree or structure looks horrible on the backdrop. I have a tip on how to eliminate lighting shadows on backdrops and have used this method sucessfully on my previous Richlawn Railroad layout. The trick is to leave a small (2 - 3") gap between the back of the benchwork and the backdrop / wall. Next, place a light or lights underneath the layout where the light can shine up in the gap onto the backdrop. I used can style uplights with standard (dimmable) bulbs.

Santa Fe Steam by 1953

I have 3 questions about Santa Fe steam locomotives. 1. the Santa Fe dieselized because of worn out steam power. Like Southern Railway, Santa Fe steam locomotives were pretty worn out and tired. 2. Did Fred Gurley, like Al Perlman of the New York Central, hated steam locomotives and wanted all steam locomotives scrapped. 3. Santa Fe after January 1954 can run trains without steam and leaves it to the diesel-electrics.

Trouble posting

I have tried to post two things and they did not post. After I hit "submit" the Forums and Post category boxes were red.  I clicked on a selection in each box. Am I doing something wrong?
