Modeling general discussion

Weekend Photo Fun July 19-21
Driline must have hit the snooze button this morning. I hope you'll all share photos of your work from this week.
N-Scale camera for layout trip wanted
I'm looking for a camera that can be used in N-Scale. I've see one so far and it looks like a thumb drive. But the instructions are so bad I could barely figure it out - then it quit working. "Wait for the earthquake" was one translation!
Anyway, can anyone recommend decent cameras of the proper size? And where to get them?

NMRA Convention in Atlanta - highlights from MRH
MRH is at the NMRA National Convention in Atlanta this week, and we're taking in some of the great stuff to be had here.
Each day we're posting some highlights from what we see and do that day.

Layout Animation
Here's a guy that has much animation on his layout. Gives me some ideas. It's all in N scale too. Click on the animation link in his web site.

Real, or Model?
Several things I see that give away that it is a model: unrealistic gaps between equipment: 4 or 5 feet between loco units and no diaphragms, ditto for passenger cars, shiny wheels, no people in locos, cabooses, or passenger cars. Jerky or jackrabbit starts and stops, and unreal speeds. Shiny highlights of plastic. Too much light or shadows that are too strong or mis-oriented. Many of the videos I see have some, if not all of these glaring flaws. Please, folks have spent years making their models, take the time to show them at their best!
NMRA Convention news-Atlanta 2013
If anyone in the MRH universe is at the Atlanta, GA 2013 NMRA convention, it would be great if you could let us know here of any new products or services of interest to model railroaders. I know most of this kind of news will be at the National Train Show nest weekend (July 19-21), but if you catch anything before then, please pass it along.
I would guess that Joe Fugate and the rest of the MRH gang will have reports for the next issue (Aug.) of MRH magazine, but earlier is better.

For those of you here that I sometimes think take this hobby way too seriously......
...with your " prototype this and prototype that", is it real or is it a model discussions and who obsess over the tiniest details like when to and not to ring the bell on your sound equipped loco I present this.....

Now, I agree, probably not the safest thing to do in the world but it gave me a much needed laugh!

Post your Model Railroad layout, engine, structure, project Photo's here
Nomenclature
Hi everyone:
Does anyone have a good resource/web site for studying engine names and what they look like? I've been in the hobby for many years and I have yet to be able to accurately name a modern era diesel by sight. I'm amazed by those that can name an engine's model almost immediately when seeing it. Example SD40-2, sd70 ACE, etc.
Thanks,
PJ
