Low-cost rolling stock improvements

Most of us are familiar with Accurail products.  (This post applies to all low-cost rolling stock manufacturers but I'm just using Accurail here as a 'generic' product identifier).

**ProtoThrottle PRICE REDUCTION, DISCOUNT, and TWO VIDEOS**

In our on-going effort to make the most realistic wireless controller for diesel modelers, we are pleased to announce that we have reduced the original list price of the ProtoThrottle from $499 to $482 with a special initial production run price of $449.

Springfield: what are your must dos, must sees, must try's, must buys?

What will make Springfield worth the time and money for you?

For me, buying is important because I live 2 1/2 hours from my (good) local hobby shop.

What are the correct Milwaukee Road MODEL paint colors?

Looking for input /suggestions on the correct model paints (available in todays market, preferably Scalecoat) for a 1935 Hiawatha Atlantic and 5 passenger cars.  All MILW fans know the orange and maroon/red changed over the years and from batch to batch, but the lack of color film in 1935 makes it darn near impossible to find a color picture of clean 1935 equipment as painted

Recommendations for photo backdrops

I’m thinking of eventually adding photo backdrops to my layout, and was considering the options out there commercially. Any that are recommended above the others? Anyone have experience with these commercial backdrops?

LokSound install into a "DCC ready" Kato

Good evening,

I have a Kato GP-35 that's "DCC ready" (8 pin connector on a board). The board is held in place by 2 screws on vertical mounts. In more recent versions, I'd imagine that the board would have been held in place by the now popular "universal" clips on either side of the motor. The distance between the screw is not the same as the clip type.

Weekly Photo Fun - January 20 - 27, 2018

Starting a new thread for the week.

Cost of entry into the hobby

I thought that we had beaten this horse to death a while back, but then I came across this recent Youtube video by a fellow in the UK with what I think is a fairly good argument for the perceived decrease in younger model railroaders, at least in Britain.

A couple of questions:

Steam Locomotive Wish List

Since we regularly have diesel wish lists, let's try a wish list for steam locomotives.

I am for new steam locomotives in the 4-6-0, 2-8-0, and 2-8-0 types for most any prototype railroad. What about you?

Portage Hill & Communipaw

Hi All:

Some have recommended viewing the track plan of the Model Railroader series from back in the early 1960s the "Portage Hill & Communipaw" as idea fodder for smaller layouts.

'Net searches by yours truly to find an online digitized version have turned up empty.

Would any of you happen to have a scan of the track plan you can share here, or email it to me?

It would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Andre
