Modeling general discussion

V-Scale Help or Hindrance
I have been doing a lot of reading lately from the " One-town layout " topic to " Operations " and " Is Model railroading too expensive ". I did a search of the posts today here on MRH on Virtual Railroading and found quite a bit of information, a lot more than I would have thought. This topic got me to thinking:

Three Critical Tools to Preserve Your Pike
I present the three most critical things just about all of us need now to preserve our model railroad harmony:
One of these:
Some of these:
and one of these:
Using food to switch cars on a short line.
I should probably entitle this little railroad story: "How to switch cars using Gatorade and Twinkies".
Thinking out loud about Club layouts.
In my winter travels, I’ve started to form some very positive views of joining a model railroad club. I’ve had a chance to visit modular (actually moving the layout to shows and back) and permanent (owned layout in a club owned building on its own land) layouts. I’ve been impressed with all the clubs I’ve had the pleasure of visiting. Here are a few of my initial thoughts. For some examples my blog is here http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/32358 .
Pinewood Derby Trains
It's that time of year again and my Cub Scout is making a pinewood derby car. The dads are making cars to race each other as well because why should the kids have all the fun? I'm making an Amtrak loco, would love very to see your train pinewood derby cars from years past. Note this car isn't finished and yes I'm making the dark blue nose with the red white blue stripe from a previous phase. All you proto guys can shudder when I toss the Downeaster logo on it mixing yet a third paint scheme!!!

Badger Model Flex Paint Online Stores?
Anyone have online sources for Badger model flex paint, so I can compare prices?
I found some on US Airbrush supply when I was looking for quick disconnects for my airbrushes. The list price is $2.55 for an individual bottle, and if you buy the sets it drops down to $2.40 a bottle.
