Father's Day - What present do you want for your railroad?

So, what would you like to get for Fathers Day, and.....do you think that you will get it?

I'll start it off:  I want (and am getting) a Atlas Gold L&N HH660 locomotive.

An Invitation to Some Fun Clinics on Low Cost DCC, Animation, and Prototype Cranes

I would like to extend a personal invitation to all interested modelers to my presentations/clinics at the National Model Railroad Association (NMRA) Convention
http://www.nmra2016.org
held in Indianapolis, Indiana on Tues,Wed, Thurs, and Saturday July 5-9:

Scale Model Animation for Model Railroads
Tuesday Capitol – 1 Room 2:30 pm – 5:00 pm

Gorre & Daphetid still an NMRA trademark?

Does the NMRA still hold the trademark to the Gorre & Daphetid and Devil's Gulch & Helegon, John Allen's wonderful creations? What about the Alturas & Lone Pine (Whit Towers' classic HO scale railroad)?

I'd initially thought it rather arrogant of the NMRA to trademark either of these classic roadnames. I hope the motivation was to protect their historical significance, and not to use the trademark to bludgeon modelers who might want to freelance a piece of G&G or DG&H rolling stock.

I'm doing a Clinic

So I decided I really wanted to try doing something at this years NMRA convention. After bouncing ideas around in my head I thought why not go and do it on the youth in the hobby. This was a great idea for two reasons. 1.  I am a youth and 2. It is always a controversial and popular topic. I am thinking of basing it around what I have done and the youth I have seen in the hobby. Along with some of my cheapo solutions to common or usually found problems.

Issues with a vendor

I'm curious how others feel about my experience with a vendor.

The last couple of weeks I started to buy detail items from a number of vendors. There are a lot of really nice items out there. I use Paypal when possible to help cut down on credit card fraud. After a typical transaction, I receive the receipt from Paypal and then the invoice/acknowledgement from the vendor. Usually a few days later, the vendor sends the shipping info. I realize that many if not most of these vendors are small, mom & pop, part time operations so I don't expect rapid shipping.

SoundTraxx Support

I always get a warm feeling when I read of others having great support from suppliers of products, so when I get excellent service I am compelled to acknowledge this to others.

I needed to send in a dodgey Econami 100 to SoundTraxx for a look-over. I received back a brand new item just last night, no questions asked.

The round trip to the USA and back to Australia took just over 2 weeks. Pretty awesome.

HO Trains pennies on the $

I represent an elderly client that has a large train set up that is digitally controlled.  I'm trying to help him get rid of it so we can sell his house.  We understand there's little value and will be difficult to dispose of but I'm hoping someone could give us some suggestions or someone may have an interest.  This is my first post & I'll try to post a photo.

Picked a Scale

We had a train show in our area today. Last night I was talking with my wife and letting her know that I was going to stick with HO. And that I would be selling off the N and O scale stuff I had picked up occasionally. "OK she says but don't sell the N scale because I want to build a small 2x4 layout to go under yours." Sure if that's what you want, was my reply.
