Modeling general discussion
The Phases Of Amtrak
I am trying to put together some Amtrak paseger trains to run on my layout and was wondering what was all
the phases of Amtrak and what order the colors of the stripes on the sides of thier pasenger cars and engines
Did amtrak always use EMD F40PH engines because all the time it seems like in any pictures thats basicly
what you see. Any help would be great thanks.

Loco Advice...
...and I don't mean crazy suggestions! [grin]
Possible pertinent data: HO Scale, CPR, code 70 & 83 rail, ME flex, CVT Hand laid #5 turnouts except curved, minimum 24" radius curves with easements, no coupling on curves.
Here's my dilemmas, and questions;
I'm trying to nail down my era and options for motive power based on the layout I have to settle for.
I would like to model the modern era.
I would love to buy one of the newer 6 axle truck loco's, a GE Evolution ES44AC - Intermountain.

Setting the layout...(got a question)
Hi all,
my turn to ask a question.
My switching layout (stub end branch layout) needs a name. Yeah I know, I always say the" H's&T's", but that's just an abreviation of "Harley's and Trains" and, pfffft, that does not sound realy "prototypical". Or does it?

Canada EH? - Canadian Trains and Models
HEY!
Just thought I'd start a discussion about Canadian models and/or prototypes.
Anyone have stuff from Rapido? I hear the LRC is awesome!
If anyone has info about Via in the 70's and 80's, I'm all ears.
Oily Black?
Hi all,
Sorry, didn't really know where else to post this.
It has come to me attention that Floquil does not make Oily Black any longer(!) I have no idea why.The Polly Scale product seems too brown(as compared to) for my tastes.Thoughts?
Thanks for any help,Dr Dirt
Union Pacific is having fans choose where their steam excursions will go
A modeler buddy of mine post this on his facebook page. It looks like UP is letting their steam fans vote for where the next excursion will go. Click on the link below.

Back to the workbench; weathered freight cars
After wrapping up the RPM meet in Wichita last weekend I was able to get back to the workshop and get things organized so I could get back to working on the model trains. I am currently in the testing phase of the layout so my progress has slowed down for now. I am focusing on rolling stock and was able to weather up a few cars over the last couple of days.
Scale Chain question
Looking at some scale chain to use as a transition era tie downs for a load on a flat car. The store offers 20 link and 40 link, which is more appropriate?
Thanks in advance
Steve
