Modeling general discussion
Where can I find this???
Okay guys, here we go. I have decided to name my lumber yard on my HO scale layout, Paul Bunyan Lumber. Turns out there really is a Paul Bunyan Lumber in Upstate New York, but I digress. What I need is a large, probably S scale, lumberjack and an ox. I could maybe go O scale but I think that would really be too large. I have searched E-Bay and Walthers and did not find a lot to offer. Why so large? Well of course, Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox were larger than life. So standing outside the lumber yard, next to the road, they must also be larger than life. :-)

How do you celebrate milestones?
I’ve always felt the need to have a “golden spike” or “golden track nail” event when I complete a significant bit of track work. A bit silly, perhaps but I like it. What do you do to mark a milestone? A video of the first run? A special tree or bush somewhere that marks the end of a scenery session? Cute signs for a cool building? Inquiring minds want to know!

Working switch stand
I am looking for ideas for installing a working switch stand. I am using the Tortoise motors to throw the switch.
Recommendations on which stands to buy that can be modified to rotate the target.
Anyone have some scratch building ideas on how to make one? I will need about 15 to 20 stands.
I am modeling in the 1930s to 1950s
Thanks Bill.
Canadian GE 44 Ton CNR 6725 CPR 23
Picked up three 44 Ton GE, plan to build all Canadian versions, started with Mont Royal commuter version which I have never seen modeled. Completed the first of three CN 6725. Converted to pantograph went better than expected. Tried using head lights made from 3mm rin stones as these can be purchased on line from China for .99$ for 1500. Sand back the rin stone with emery board works really well. Has advantage of being jeweled when powered off and distributes the light well when on.
Weekly Photo Fun - August 26th to September 1st, 2016
Awesome work everyone last week! Time to start this week's photo thread!
As always, we get as much out of your in-process photos as we do the highly polished "all done" shots!

LED replacement
Have track lighting in my layout room and the fluorescent bulbs that were supposed to last for years are starting to take an early retirement.
I am going to replace these with LED bulbs and wanted to get feedback from those who have made the switch. Currently I am looking at LEDs "wide" food lights in the 4000 Kelvin range. The goal is to get as close to natural lighting as possible.

My experiement with lighting photos with a 50w LED spotlight
I'm lighting my layout with Michael Rose's style LED boards and I'm very happy with the results. In another post on this website someone mentioned an LED spotlight and I was curious on if I could use one on my layout (our layouts that I visited to improve photos. Yes, I know that you aren't supposed to mix light types so that could be an issue on other layouts.
Here's the LED spotlight that I purchased that arrived today:
