Looking for Model Railroad Planning 2010
Hi,
I'm looking for a copy of Model Railroad Planning 2010. I'm particularly interested in Paul Dolkos's new Baltimore Harbor design. Please contact me offline if you have one for sale (loumickie@msn.com).
Thanks,
Lou
Lemonade from lemons
.After doing extensive scenery work I decided to vacuum the rails. I always hate that even though I do have a small vacuum...the hose is too stiff and the rigid end is too long. I seem to always hit at least one thing!

The modeling artistry of Clark Propst
I visited Clark Propst today and saw the progress on his new layout which models the M&StL through the small hamlets of Story City, Roland, and Zearing, Iowa.
Clark is an excellent (and fast working) modeler who loves building models more than operation, but he still enjoys operating his layout.
Weekly Photo Fun - 2/3/17 - 2/9/17
Haven't seen a topic posted for this week yet so I'll get things started with some West River, South Dakota railroading.
It's July 2014, and the Rapid City, Pierre, and Eastern railroad is just over a month old now. Here, CORP 3097 (soon to be RCPE 3480) leads the M-RCHU eastbound through Midland, SD, a small town of about 120 people. The SD40 and a mate from the DM&E are making the slow journey toward Pierre with a fair sized train of cement, bentonite, grain, and particle board in tow.

Strong flush-cutting pliers?
In the past year I have broken two Xuron flush-cutting pliers on Atlas code 100 NS track. The pliers' metal is hard, maybe brittle, and one side just snapped off and flew across the room.
Any suggestions for a brand of sturdier flush cutters?
Cleaning acrylic paint brushes
When using water based (acrylic) paints, what's you preferred method of clean up? Sure there are "brush cleaning solutions" sold at the hobby stores but the strike me as nothing more than dish soap.
I just found a youtube video where this guy claims to clean dried acrylic paint out of his brushes using Vodka:
Seems a little expensive, but if it works as good as he claims it might be worth it.

Plaster Cloth
For those that are about to spend your hard earned pennies, here is a great way to save a little over the typical hobby store purchase.
http://www.orthotape.com/plaster_bandages_4_inch_gauze.asp
I know that some may say to buy at your local hobby store and I agree, but this is for all intence and purpose the exact same product at a much cheaper price. I also like the fact you can buy different size rolls.

Sprint Telephone was once
Southern Pacific Railroad Internal Networking Telephony. Who knew???
A company using fiber optic communications in the 70's but still running SD9's in mainline service.
