Modeling general discussion
Who has pictures of (a) ditch(s) on your layout?
I'm starting to carve a couple of ditches, one between the road and the mainline, and one between the mainline and the grass.
I think I'm cutting too close to the ballast and maybe too deep.
Any pix out there to steer me in the right direction?

New Year 2019
My New Years Resolution, is to tackle some of the Craftsman kits I have been collecting, but not building.
It will be my first dive into laser cut craftsman kits.
I have built Oscars and Pikers, but not true laser cut craftsman kits. I have never assembled a "box of sticks" either.
So I'm resolving to correct that.
What is YOUR modeling resolution?
What's on your bench to start the new year with & month Jan 2019? (2nd re-edit of 1st one)
first off. HAPPY NEW YEAR YALL!! I'm going to post my pics of some projects later on today(3hrs ahead of West Coast time.) Just got home from working a New Year's Eve party where I work at. so let's the pics/videos come in. May your year be a prosperous one.

Switch Stand Help?
Has anyone ever re-assembled a Caboose 204S sprung high-level stand? It's my fault it came apart but the components are all there, I think. The question is can it be put back together? (Or is it not worth the effort; buy a new one? Which I think is the easiest solution but I want to hear if anyone has an idea. The manufacturer didn't reply when I emailed a request to see if they had a schematic.)

Which way do I go?
My design is a double main. The industry in question of on the eastward. Im trying to stay true to the prototype as much as possible. So here is the problem. The turnout is on the east side of the industry with a long lead that balloons back to the industry. I dont have the room to set the industry back that far. The diagram shows the correct orientation for the industry, but the turnout is on the wrong side. The track chart does show a nearby industry with an opposite side turnout. So not all turnouts face the same way.

When do you realize you were going about it all wrong
Just curious. I think many lessons can be learned for success and many times more lessons can be learned from failures.
So tell me about an experience you had, maybe ignored then came to the realization you were going about it the wrong way. This can be anything from railroads you were modelings, time frame, type of layout (switching vs circle, etc) and to the big one scale.
Floqiil “dust”
Heading to the hobby shop to buy a bunch of Vallejo Air paints to fill out my dwindling Floquil supply. I’m using the MRH guide to find the the similar replacements, but I didn’t see one fir one of my favorite Floquil weathering colors...Dust. Any suggestions in the Vallejo line?
Thanks

Canadian Pacific commercial coal shed - photos?
Kanamodels made a nice laser kit of a CP commercial coal supplier shed, but I've not been able to find a photo of the prototype. Can anyone point me to a picture of one in use 'back in the day'?
Thanks!

Christmas Eve...
