MRH Magazine general discussion

I'm baaaack!

I've been back over at Trains.com for a little while now, but after they killed a thread which simply praised Joe's customer support for the DVDs, well, that reminded me that I used to participate here too. So, here I am. Back, and working on a new layout and getting back intot he whole thing big time.

The Station at Citicorp Center and the new York City Subway Museum

My wife had to go into Manhattan for a conference yesterday so I decided to go with her to see both the Station at Citicorp Center and The New York City Subway System Museum at Grand Central Station.

We took the express bus into Manhattan and it was an interesting ride. Up until April of 2007, I used to do it every working day. That jon went up in smoke when the company was closed and liquidated so I haven't been on that bus in a while now. It's changed. Ridership is down since there were fewer people on the bus than I remember taking it.

Model Rail Cast Show 41- Layout Design Analysis

Joe,

Great job on the show!

Will you be including Analysis stats as part of the layout stats that will be featured in the magazine?

Calendar?

Would it be too much to ask for a Model Railroad Events calendar? I'd love to have one website where I can go to find out when the next even in my area is going to be. I always seem to find out too late otherwise.

I check the calendar on the San Diego Model Railroad Museum for swap meets, but feel like I'm missing some. The next one is in Feb.

MRH Header

I'd like to start out by saying Wow! What a great concept this magazine is, and what a great job of executing the concept. Hats off to all involved!

The first thing I noticed when checking out the magazine was the header and the "Yes, it's a model..." tag line. The photos are fantastic, and the modeling first rate. Is there a list of which model railroads the photos came from? I'm actually interested in the photo of the SP and two Rio Grande diesels pulling a train through an S curve in the mountains.... it's spectacular! Anybody know which layout that photo is from?

recommendations for a decent camera for video?

Ok, I've been looking at doing some stuff to submit.  Nothing big, just some really basic stuff like decoder installs, programming, coupler conversions.  I'm finding my current camera doesn't really do video all that well.  It's not really a video camera anyway so I'm not surprised.

I'm thinking of something in the ~200$ range or so but I don't expect it to do HD or anything like that.  I just need some pointers in the right direction.

Thanks.

Archiving This fantastic Magazine

Well Hello again.

I realize this ia a little soon but, Will you make each months issues available for ever?

The reason I'm asking is I'm a large collector of all Scale Model Railroad magazines.

I reference them constantly and have an extensive Index of 4 standard gauge and 2

narrow Gauge magazines (U.S. American) and assorted others.

I Model in HO/HOn3 and I think Your online Magazine is 10 years late and desperately

needed for My or should I say Our Hobby. I want to say Thanks and I'll bet There are at

New MRH user level - superuser

We've created a new user level for MRH subscribers: superuser.

A superuser gets 128MB of media upload space instead of 64MB, and you can upload larger images so that people can click on them. To be a superuser, we assume you know how to resize an image to 700 pixels wide so you won't blast out the formatting on the site.

Superusers also get a more advanced WYSIWYG editor with more powerful formatting features.

Superusers also see a bit more extra tracking info on posts.
