MRH Magazine general discussion

The $1000 drawing is almost here!
It's almost August 31st, so the drawing for the $1000 online shopping spree is almost here!
We'll have about 2600 subscribers in this drawing, and we'll conduct the drawing at 2 pm, Pacific time. When we have a name, we'll contact the person directly to inform them they've won.
Once the person has acknowledged that they've won, we'll announce the winner to the rest of the world.
If possible, we will want to get a picture and some details about the winner so we can all share in their good fortune! Think of it like we're all family and that we want to celebrate a little!

Guys I have a request!
As a Scotsman who has recently become interested in American Railroads (and is indeed building a small freelanced B&O layout) can I request that, to help myself and others who may be new to the hobby, you explain any acronyms, shortnames, nicknames or general jargon used to aid those of us who are not native Americans.
It's up to MRH to meet expectations now...
The word is spreading. Now as Joe says it's time for MRH to show us what they can do. I for one wish them well!

Hi everyone
I was finally able to upload a couple of my Daylight videos and thought I would share them with you. Video quality is so-so but I'm working on it.

Steam Era
I model the steam era. Specifically I model in N scale, the Southern Railway Murphy Branch, circa 1942. I'm interested in many things that are related to these topics.
I hope this steam era group can exchange some great information.

Let's start with an introduction.
Hello fellow modeler's. I think introductions should be in order before we start typing away about this great hobby. So here goes: I'm Chuck, I live in a small town called Crosby just northeast of Houston Texas. I'm married to a wonderful gal and we have two kids that are now on their own. I have been modeling railroads since 1977 and presently working on my 6th layout. I model an all diesel HO scale layout circa 1996 when the SP was taken over by the UP along the Sunset Route (HWY 90 from El Paso to Houston) .

The future ... attend an op session online?
One thing MRH is all about is leveraging cool internet technology for model railroaders, and keeping it free.
Here's an idea for you:
Attend an operating session online - for free!
How would you like to attend a live operating session as a webcast online? I'm thinking live video and audio in the train room - maybe kind of like our ops live video series, except it would be live - and you could ask questions, post comments - all real time.
The technology is there, and I'd like to see MRH make it available (eventually) and make the webcast free.

fine tuning DCC sound
I have been adding Soundtraxx and MRC steam sound decoders to my steam collection and noticed that the volume level is way down. Some installations are almost difficult to hear, even after the volume is turned up. Does anyone have experience with this problem? perhaps a solution? Grandpoplew

1000 on-board
Congrats Joe and the Crew,
I see there are now more than 1000 users. I was 699 and have been here nine days. That's an impressive growth curve. I'm sure a few user IDs are for initial testing, but those numbers pale next to the overall amount of enrolled users.
Let's see when 2000 is surpassed.
Eric
