MRH Magazine general discussion

Kudos goes out to..........
......Kudos goes out to whoever took the photo of the SP F7 black widow
approaching that RR crossing with the 'fog' effect. Since I am now
living in Las Vegas where temperatures are now approaching triple digits,
I can at least feel a little cooler by looking at that photo, and it seems that
my body's temperature drops a minimum of another 30 degrees.
Any chance of some UK outline features?
Living in the UK and being a UK outline modeller (but I do have a US layout in Z scale: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmFJvW2vqf4) I wondered what interest there might be in an occasional UK outline feature in the Hobbyist Mag??
I know that there are quite a few US based modellers who model UK layouts and wondered if there was enough to push for a small 'UK roundup' in each issue.
Cheers

Contest Idea; The 24 Hundred Blues
The run of the mill magazines have had design contests for numbers of years. One idea that seems to remain constant is that these layout designs should be buildable; that is, they should fit in a standard bedroom.
Meanwhile, we open up the pages of magazines like 'Great layouts of 2002' and see layout after layout after layout that are by no means any less formidable than the Queen Mary or the U.S.S. Enterprise [take your pick!]

Dallas Model Works website
I'm off searching for some Walther's structure kits, so I decided to take a look at Dallas Model Works - but the website is down - or at least I'm getting a webserver with a problem sort of error when I try.
Anyone know what's up? Is it just me?

130' HO Walthers turntable issues
Help! I have a 130' HO Walthers built up turntable. I am using the AC terminals from an old Tyco power pack to provide power. From the time I first installed it several days ago until this morning it worked flawlessly. This morning when I laid the last track to the table, one of the rails was a little long and when the table rotated to that spot, it jammed. I heard the cog gear click and immediately reversed the direction. Although the table still operates smoothly, I can no longer get it to find the zero point.

The mañana principle
We're hearing from more than a few sources of modelers who know about MRH magazine, but who haven't gotten around to downloading issue 2 yet.
Since the circulation of our free magazine is very important to us generating an income - if enough people take this attitude, it could hurt our free magazine venture.
Rather than use a stick, we'll use a carrot. This is your notice that we're going to put something very special in future issue downloads that will have a 30-day time limit.

Hope this is allowed

Model Trains Weathered Ad
Just after the Model Trains Weathered folks placed their ad with us, their web site got hit with a major spam attack. In desperation, they locked down their site.
The timing could not have been worse!
But in case you're wondering what happened, you can thank the spammers of the world ... I don't wish ill on anybody, but when it comes to spammers defacing a web site out of simple dirty meaness, I'm very tempted to make an exception!

The future of the PREMIUM Edition
On another thread, I deal with the question of what the difference is between the PREMIUM Edition and the LITE Edition of MRH.
We're having discussions among the staff as to how the PREMIUM Edition might evolve over time.
Our inclination is to evolve the PREMIUM Edition to become a no-compromise version where we're not especially concerned with download file size.
The PREMIUM Edition already has higher quality still images. What we're discussing is moving to higher quality media as well in the PREMIUM Edition.
