Model Railway Club Open House - Maryhill, ON (Waterloo Region Model Ry. Club)
Next weekend (October 17, 2009) is the annual fall open house of the Waterloo Region Model Railway Club. This is a large club modelling the Canadian Pacific Sudbury Division in the 1970s, and has been featured on this site in Jurgen's "Tales from the Basin" blog. (http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/blog/4771)
Any one here from southern Ontario, or who will be in the area that weekend are welcome to come out and see the layout in action.
What's with the home page
The home page is a lot more linear than before, requiring scrolling of the page to find commonly-used buttons such as "recent posts." I liked the previous format much more.

Current Events on the print vs. digital media battle
Conde Nast, the print media giant announced today they will cease print operations of four of their print magazines including Gourmet.
While Conde Nast is in no way related to model railroading, this move does highlight the print to digital media trend that many brick and mortar media houses are moving toward. Joe and MRH have known this for some time now, the digital media and Internet resource delivery business model is becoming more of the standard method especially in these uncertain ecomonic conditions.

New to this forum, just saying hello!
Hi All!
My name is Ralph and I live in London, England. I have just found this place and am about to start an On30 project. I have been a railway modeller for more years than I would care to confess to but sadly most of it has been armchair modelling for the past 20 years - you know life and work getting in the way...
All that is now changing and I have got the On30 bug. I was very keen on HOe and have had several layouts over the years but as I got older the HOe got smaller, now On30 is a much better size for my tired eyes!

Joef why are Forum Photos from last year no longer Viewable
I was looking through last years Discussion forums and saw a number of posts that had good articles and said see the photos. Then the next post by Joef said great photos of your Idea using guitar strings to make Walters turnouts DCC ready and thanks for the photos Yet the place where the photos were suppose to be all I found was a small square black outlined box and no photo. I thought the photos should still be there or you may as well just delete the whole Discussion topic because without the pictures the posts are worthless.
September Newsletter missing a page?
Is there a page missing in the September Newsletter? It goes directly from Accurail to somewhere in the middle of the Athearn announcements...
Cheers,
Colin

Anyone from Tennessee?
I'm headed to Nashville on a business trip in early October and I was wondering if anyone knows of any hobby shops or train related stuff I could look at there in my free evenings. There is one hobby shop I found online that I'm going to try to make it to, but if anyone knows of anything I shouldn't miss, give me a heads up. Thanks.
116 Idle Locomotives
I came across this amazing photo on the Southern California Railroad Railfan site. It's 116 UP locos sitting idle at Colton.
