MRH Magazine general discussion

Lots of April issue corrections - redownload recommended!
There were a lot of significant last minute corrections this time, so we recommend you download the April issue of MRH AGAIN if you downloaded it already.
The latest corrections are out there now, and this is the FINAL version that's going out with the mass-audience come-and-get-it email blast that's going out tomorrow.
Thanks all, for the corrections, guys!

50,000 likes on Facebook
I'm happy to announce that the MRH Facebook page just went over 50,000 likes.
Thank you to all the modelers who provide great posts for me to link to over there.

March issue release update - March 7th
This update is to remind you the first Monday of the month is the traditional MRH magazine release date, and for March this is March 7. Any time the first Monday is a little later in the month we get folks wondering where their magazine is, so this is to somewhat head off that concern.

Weekly Photo Fun February 26 to March 3, 2016
Great work everyone last week! Time to start of this week's photo thread!
As always, we get as much out of your in-process photos as we do the highly polished "all done" shots!

Printing MRH
So, I was talking to LULU.com while ordering a book (yes, I'm 1 of the writers of the book, under our editor who is listed as author. It's all about the town I grew up in.)
So, since I was there, I asked them about printing specific issues of MRH. I was quoted an estimate of 57$ per issue. Anyone got a better price from some other vendor (5 issues (yes, those 5) @ 57$ each = 285$) is more then I would like to take away from my modeling.
Eureka Valley Narrow Gauge Railroad
My scratch built O scale Eureka Depot was inspired by an ad that appeared way back in the October 1980 Model Railway Craftsman magazine for the Horseshoe Meadows kit, then marketed by Railway Engineering Agency. I've got a collection of photos, plans, etc that I've collected over many years, and find these a useful source of ideas for new structures and scenes. This depot is built to fit a particular space/location using a foam core substructure and slips of card painted and grained to simulate weatherboards.
painting help
I have some old Floquil solvent base paints. going to give airbrushing a shot. [ Badger 350] what should I use to thin them for airbrushing? & what ratio paint to thinner. also air pressure.
thanks FA-1
Periscoping Amhearst
A couple of weeks ago I watched an entire Bruce Springsteen concert live on Periscope and it made me think maybe someone could do that at Amhearst for those of us that can't go! Now while my post is somewhat tounge in cheek,it this age of social media, and high tech tech equipment,it's not all that far fetched. There are lots of guys using camcorders and posting to YouTube after the fact,so why not go live? There's no shortage of qualified and interested individuals to carry this out. And using a GoPro cam would be even less intrusive.

Railroading Merit badge
I have just received confirmation that I am now on the BSA National Review team for Railroading Merit Badge. The next review is scheduled for Summer 2017, reporting out in Jan 2018.
This team will review the requirements, at that time, and determine if any need to be added, subtracted, or updated. The current requirements can be found online in several places. If anyone has any suggestions for changes, please communicate them to me so that I may forward them to the team when the time comes.

Big Bang Theory Train connection
Word has it that on the Feb 4th episode, Sheldon is given an O scale train set by his grandmother? Pair of NW2 in a Texas railroad theme. Maybe ramping up the train portion of the show?
