MRH Magazine general discussion

Club subscription to magazine

Today I just subscribed to the magazine for my model railroad club. I am trying to get these guys more involved with the web. I have also set up an email account for the club so we can be on here. It also will allow those guys to become active with the occasional post should they decide to become adventurous. Wish me luck with getting them to do anything but read the magazine

Is there an easy way to print the contents of an entire blog/message thread?

There have been many threads on MRH I'd like to print off and file for later referance.  Is there a simple, relatively straightforward way to do this I've simply overlooked?  (Wouldn't be the first time...blush)

Imagineering/Getting Real

My observation is that there is not very much differentiation between the Imagineering and Getting Real columns.  Many of the Getting Real columns seem to be more about general layout construction than making things more prototypical.

MRH Help Wanted: Skilled model photographer for 1 week assignment

MRH is looking for a skilled model railroad photographer for a one week assignment in February. We will help cover expenses for the trip to Indianapolis.

If you live close to Indianapolis, then all the better.

An open letter to MRH advertisers

To whom it may concern:

I would like to express to all who advertise in Model Railroad Hobbyist what the magazine and the ads mean to me.

There is no magazine, now or previously, that I await with more anticipation—not Ring Magazine, or the old Dragon Magazine, not other model magazines—none.  The articles are varied and consistently useful—well worth the time.

January issue coming by today (Sunday)

The January issue should be posted very late tonight - or more likely early Sunday morning for most of you. We are in the Pacific Time Zone, so we're after most of the world as to time. Late tonight - say 11 pm - will be after midnight for everyone except Alaska and Hawaii ...

Merry Christmas from MRH Media

Here at MRH Media, we'd like to thank you all for a great 2015.

And to remember the reason for the season, here's a music video by the acappella group Pentatonix ... "Mary did you know?"  ... Merry Christmas!

More January issue sneak peek

Here's another sneak peek from the upcoming cover story on my HO Siskiyou Line, this time a panorama of my Tenmile Creek scene. I've never put the entire scene into a single photo before, so I thought this might be fun to do ... here it is. This photo, and a full-sized 300 DPI panorama you can look at will be in the January issue.

Enjoy ... click on the photo for a larger version.

Best of Ken P Calendar

The Best of Ken Patterson 2016 Calendar arrived this afternoon.  The Lulu people that printed and shipped it did a great job.

The calendar is great, as expected, but I was quite surprised by the packaging. When I first saw the flat box I had a flashback to my old record club days. The calendar was shrink wrapped onto a piece of heavy cardboard and placed inside another heavy cardboard box. I figured it would probably be put in an envelope and folded to fit my mailbox like so much of my other mail.
