Modeling topic

Mid South Model Railroad Club and Others in Baton Rouge La.
Unfortunately the MSMRC had 27 inches of water in the club with the Aug 13, 2016 record flooding in Baton Rouge La. Also Jim Loflands Tall Timbers and Santa Fe also had water almost right up to the bottom of the layout. One additional one with water in the train room was Jack Shall Louisiana Central Railroad.
The link is to the MSMRC FB page which has the pictures of the clean out of the building.

Rathole Division of the Southern RR.
This will be one great model railroad when finished but been waiting since the last century to post something and decided a little something was better than nothing at all.

How do you celebrate milestones?
I’ve always felt the need to have a “golden spike” or “golden track nail” event when I complete a significant bit of track work. A bit silly, perhaps but I like it. What do you do to mark a milestone? A video of the first run? A special tree or bush somewhere that marks the end of a scenery session? Cute signs for a cool building? Inquiring minds want to know!

Working switch stand
I am looking for ideas for installing a working switch stand. I am using the Tortoise motors to throw the switch.
Recommendations on which stands to buy that can be modified to rotate the target.
Anyone have some scratch building ideas on how to make one? I will need about 15 to 20 stands.
I am modeling in the 1930s to 1950s
Thanks Bill.
Work on the G&D engineshed continued
During the last few days I continued on my G&D engine shed.
For some time I thought about how I could make the windows of these building. Because I didn't know if there are a commercial available product out there I scratch built them. I copied the windows on clear acetat sheet from the drawings I have, and glued stained wooden profiles on them. Then I inserted the windows.
Scratchbuilt 3D printed, 12 axle, 325 ton Drop Deck Flatcar.
I was asked recently if I would consider making a 12 Axle, heavy duty flat car as a kit to offer. I thought, Why not? It’s unique and it would present a great design challenge. After a bit of research, I decided on the Kasgro 325 ton 12 Axle flatcar shown here as my prototype. There’s plenty of photos available on line, plus it’s red! Who can resist a bright red car?
Canadian GE 44 Ton CNR 6725 CPR 23
Picked up three 44 Ton GE, plan to build all Canadian versions, started with Mont Royal commuter version which I have never seen modeled. Completed the first of three CN 6725. Converted to pantograph went better than expected. Tried using head lights made from 3mm rin stones as these can be purchased on line from China for .99$ for 1500. Sand back the rin stone with emery board works really well. Has advantage of being jeweled when powered off and distributes the light well when on.
Exactrail Bethlehem 3483 Hopper : D&RGW
Has anyone bought any of these?
If so? Are they worth the price. Im looking at ordering some but they work out at around $53NZD per car, with the current exchange rate. They are the type of hopper I will be needing on my future layout. Or is there a more cost effective way?
Regards Phil
