SMA31 - 15 Amps Plus of Raw Power for DCC++
Every once in a while there is a need for something a bit more than the 1-2 Amps of DCC power that the typical DCC++ combination of the Arduino plus motor shield can deliver. With a separate H-Bridge driver board and your Arduino Uno or Mega2560 you can put out a DCC signal with 15 Amps of power. Let’s see how you can do it.

Colorado Front Range RR - Jan 2019 update
Yes I got the Sensors on line and running in JMRI....Tips on wiring, a look at the JMRI panel, and a question from a viewer 3D printing vs Laser cutter. Hope it is helpful to someone.

Anybody have info on this kind of TOFC ramp from the 1970's
I want to add detail to the ramp on my late 70's ATSF layout based on McPherson, KS. This is cropped from a picture I took in 1978. I want to add the wheel ramp(?) but I can't quite figure out how it works. The surface you can see looks like the "top" that the wheels would ride on. To do that it would have to flip up toward the flat car and down to the edge of the ramp. You can see some kind of brace/swing arm connected to the steel ramp.

Kits, and craftsman, and pre-modern modeling.
I love kits... (I love sets, but, not talking sets this time)
"Pre-1960s modeling"... craftsman kits... Silver Streak, and Walthers kits... B.T.S cars, and the like... things that aren't RTR (nothing wrong with RTR, I love them too, but that's not what this is about)
So tell me. What are some of your favorite non-RTR kits for engines, cars, and rolling stock?
Please, include photos if you can!
Mesh Window Covering
I'm scratchbuilding a model (HO scale) of a structure that has a "mesh" covering over two smaller rear windows, presumably to act as "burglar bars". This mesh is not square, but sort of diamond shaped, if you will. Sort of like tulle, but smaller.
Any suggestions as to a product out there that I could use, either a commercial product or a craft store type product?
Appreciate any leads/suggestions!
Thanks,
Al Carter

Help Identifying a CSX Locomotine
Back during this past summer I bought a couple of HO, CSX locomotives from an estate sale in Jacksonville. I got 2 locomotives, and a steel coil car. I was informed by a relative that the gentleman who owned these was a retired executive of CSX (headquartered in Jacksonville).
One of the locos was an Overland brass model,...

Proper curve to reverse a #4 Switch and get track 1.25 OC from the original
Hi Folks:

DCC question about reverse loop
Hello Fellow Modelers!!
I am currently redesigning my layout, and would like to incorporate a reversed loop ( tear drop shaped)
will this short out my DCC electronics?? it seems that the it would because the outside track would become the inside track at the turn out..
HO Precision Craft FA1/FA1 – back/back or elephant style?
In the mid 2000s, Precision Craft Models made an HO scale FA1/FA1 model with ESU LokSound DCC. The pair of models only had one decoder which controlled both units via jumper wires, thus the two units needed to be operated as a pair.
As manufactured by Precision Craft, were these FA1/FA1 pairs wired to run back-to-back, or elephant style? I'm guessing back-to-back since that was probably where the jumper wires were.
