Lasering Leaves
The Long Island Rail Road is using a laser system to remove leaves from their rails. The system is from LPS, a Netherlands company based in Amsterdam. https://www.laserprecisionsolutions.com/
Replacing My DCC system (Lenz)
I am starting to consider my options for replacing my current DCC system. I am the type of person that will spend a pretty long time looking into options and considering everything (read over thinking) befor pulling the trigger months (or years) down the road. So while I don’t expect to pull the trigger on this I have decided I need to start the investigation.
Current Layout/Installation.
I model the C&O Railway, in West Virginia (New River Gorge) Circa fall 1943. So steam, but no helper service.
Being Satisfied
Switch jobs are starting be run. Need to create the mirror image trains as with Dick Elwell. No one has chosen to do the Helper Section and the cuts are likely cat hair glued to their spots. Will need to clean some. I am of the mind to rebbuild St Albans...certainly need to do the fascia/turnout markings and clean up the wiring. Would like to make clear the staging role and a couple of switch runs. The current status looks weary and the engine lead is not correct. I am thinking three through tracks of 7-9 feet in the back with a siding for switchers
How to contact others directly
Maybe I’m missing something but is there a way for us to directly message each other if needed? Maybe I’m missing something but say if I want to give my contact info to someone but not in a post?
Thanks,
Mike

interior photos for shop storefronts
I contacted Clever Models because it was mentioned here that they might add photos of interiors to be adhered on the inside of storefronts, businesses, etc. I contacted them and told that they are not pursuing that project because another company was doing them already. Anyone know who that might be, or any other ideas as to do realistic window treatments. Thank you

Kitbashing Walthers Grocery Distributor
This was a result of trying to find a suitable building for a triangular site on my layout formed by a main road, side street and a siding. Checking through my kit stock and doing a net search, the Walthers Grocery Distributor seemed to be about the right size and could be fiddled with using a cut here and there. I came up an arrangement I was happy with. Then it was time to cut some walls, one thing led to another and here is the result. My take on a Smart and Final Wholesale Grocery of the 1950s (an actual company with a long Californian history).
What are these?
These parts came in the parts bag that accompanied the W&R O scale 44 T locomotive which some of you know I am in the midst of painting and decorating.
Question is what are these? What are they used for?
Tow have a patter, two do not. All four have a little end piece sticking out of the sides.
I have no idea. Anyone?

Graffiti Painters
I didn't want to clog the October 21 workbench with this infomercial but with all the attention to modern graffiti ModelU in the UK has scanned and is 3d printing a series of graffiti spraying artists/hoodlums in case you want to depict them caught on camera in the act. They will on request print them in 3.5 MM/HO scale and US 1:160 N scale. They are expensive and postage is almost a killer but if you want to depict the act in progress these will do the trick.
DJK Builds A ... Video Build Series
This blog is somewhat self promotional but I think that the information shared will be both informative and entertaining. My intention is to present techniques that I use when building models using a video format.
