Train songs radio show tonight 6 July 2020
Tonight from 8 to 10pm my friend Marc Miller's weekly radio show "Spam & Grits" is featuring train songs. So, if you're like me and have trouble naming more than five train-themed songs, you might like to give it a listen.
The station is WRFG 89.3 (Radio Free Georgia in Atlanta, Georgia) and you can listen on _ wrfg.org _.

CN MOW Trucks -Project Completed
Just completed two CNR Maintenance-of-Way vehicles to add to my layout, the Trenton Subdivision in N Scale. These are resin and metal casting, Magnuson Models Hi-Rail crew cab trucks that I purchased several years ago. Decals are Highball Graphics CN MOW, Microscale Canadian flags and Hazmat placards. For the solid cast windows, I first applied a layer of gloss black, followed by a coat of Tamiya Clear Green.
Pics / Diagram of Power Plants
I am interested to see some pics or plans on how folks have modeled power plants on their layouts. Interested to see how you laid out track work and buildings, etc. to get some inspiration.
Static Grass Applicators
I am thinking the time has come for me to invest in a static grass applicator. I have read a few threads and articles concerning different varieties of applicators, from home-made to some costing well over $100. I'm not afraid to invest the money in a quality unit, but I don't want to waste money either. So I am hoping that some folks in this forum will offer some insight based on experiences both good and bad that will help me select or build a unit that works well.
scenery sculptamold, paper mache, ground goop, etc
ITS July already..... I'm sure this topic has come up ..But I have been trying to purchase "Sculptamold" from various one line and brick and mortor locations..I am assuming due to "corona" ordering and perhaps manufacturing has maybe slowed..I cant find it anywhere in New England, If I do its 2 to 3 months out from being available..I do have celluclay which seems to work just fine too..So I googled Make yer own etc..and came up with a few different versions ..So far so good...some tweaking maybe in ratios but over all its been working just as good if
Brake wheel height
How high were the brake wheels? I would have thought they'd be at a height comfortable for the "brakeman" to be able to turn them. However, in the many pictures I've seen, brake wheels seem to be at all kinds of height. Especially where the brakeman is standing. Like on the top of a house car. I've seen pictures where the wheel is barely above his foot - and others at his waist. And were the variations due to the RR? The location in the U.S.? The car manufacturer? Or is it that all I'm seeing is models that have no real basis in a prototype.
How to remove diecast zinc parts
Hi, Brand new here and to model RRing. I build (and built) cars, model WWII ships (English), diecast cars, balsa/tissue planes, wooden planes and then I switched gears when I ran across an old wood/metal Pullman car that looked interesting to restore. That lead to more old kit cars, always wood/metal. Parts all over the place. I saw a project here to upgrade a diecast Mantua 4-6-2 Pacific so I got one, and a spare boiler, figuring I might screw up with grinding.
History Trails
I love history. History and Mechanical Engineering were my double majors in college. I was reading a book about covered hoppers and how thay have changed during their lives and I came across the mention and short history of Southern's " Big John " hoppers. Like any great internet search/trail of breadcrumbs that somehow leads you to looking at the set of slicin' n dicin' Ginsu knives, I soon was reading about how Southern's marketing plan got the ICC involved and then how that court case radically changed some facets of railroading in America.

Assembling a Sylvan 34’ Tandem Fruehauf Livestock Trailer
I recently purchased a Sylvan 34’ Tandem Fruehauf Livestock Trailer (Kit#T-014) . I am now in the process of assembling it. The difficulty that I am having is attaching the underframe to the body. How do I glue it to the trailer’s body? It appears that the underframe is made to be inserted inside the walls of the trailer’s body. There appears to be slot that it fits into, but by doing so, the underframe is then about 0.125” too long. If I just glue it to the bottom of the trailer’s body then it hangs down from the body.
