Rusting rail
I am wondering if anyone here may know of a way to rust the nickel silver rail...and is there perhaps a fast way if it is possible to speed up the process if it will naturally rust

Steps for Structure Building
Being a programmer I learned long ago that tasks must be done step by step, in order. So I am going to attempt to share my experiences completing a fairly good sized area of my layout that parallels the mainline track. There will be a number of structures on both sides of the street,

Reducing the stall angle of an Atlas roundhouse
If I knew a little more about aviation, I'd try to make a good joke about that title..
Anyway, I've decided to see if I can make an Atlas HO scale roundhouse work on my layout. The difficulty is that my tracks are already laid at 10 degrees, whereas the Atlas model is designed for a 15 degree angle. I had planned on scratch building, but when one is given a nice kit, it's worth investigating good ways of using it.

Decals, Dullcote and Glosscote
I read that when finishing structures the finish should be glossy, paint to glosscote before applying decals, then sprayed with dullcote last. True?

Sound file and Digitrax decoder
Me again with another question!
I have 3 Digitrax SDH164D decoders at home. I know you can download sound file to modify the default ones. I was wondering if you have to use the Digitrax PR2 or PR3 to do so? Or is it possible to do it with Decoder pro or a similar free program?
I'm asking because at the price of the PR3, I can get a pretty good sound decoder, altho I don't mind getting it if I have too.
Thanks in advance,

Bob's Railroad - NE Georgia Medical Center Toy Railroad
This posting is NOT about the Richlawn Railroad, but something much more important - a toy railroad for the children at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Georgia. A number of generous gentlemen (for now un-named) wanted to do something special for the children at NE Ga Medical center which is a wonderful hospital about 20 miles from my home. These gentlemen contacted model railroaders in our area to see if we would be interested in building the layout if they provided the money for the materials. What a wonderful opportunity to help the children and have

Any problems with the new 3.5 amp Zephyrs and Digitrax reversing devices (PM-42 or AR-1)?
I was happy with my old Zephyr (2.5 amp) until I tried to connect it to Digitrax's reversing units- they just would not work for me. Many emails to Digitrax tech folks produced a number of fixes but nothing got either the PM-42 or later an AR-1 to function. I am about to send my old Zephyr off to Digitrax so they can replace its main board for $35. I am not 100% sure this will correct the problems (nor how long I'll not be able to run some trains) and have considered upgrading to the new Zephyr. I asked Digitrax if there were any problems between
Lansing Legacies 2011 NCR Regional Convention starts Thursday-Sunday 11-3-11 to 11-6-11
Anyone going to this? I'm signed up and paid up. Will also be going to dinner at Clara's Friday night. Lots of layout tours and a couple of prototype tours. I plan to video some of the layouts and will be posting on Youtube
Decals
This is my first post in a long time so please bear with me. I am building some of the "vintage" Rail Line HOn3 kits that were purchased at a swap meet. The owner of these kits wants the models to represent units that are rarely modeled such as the Union Pacific Denver & Gulf and the Colorado Central. The problem is that I am having some difficulty locating decal or dry transfer lettering sets for these units. There are two 30 ft reefer cars and two 30 ft box cars for each of these lines. Perhaps some of you know a reclusive vendor for such items? Thank you.
