Painting mullions in Walthers kits for metal and industrial buildings

I have a number of Walthers HO scale cornerstone and railroad related structures as probably many of you also have. Some of the windows in the industiral kits require the painting of the mullions. This would not be a problem except the mullions are just raised strips of plastic on the clear plastic windows. I know a steady hand could paint the raised portions with a micro brush or similar, but I do not have a steady hand for such work. I have tried it on some kits and the appearance is very uneven.

New HO Scale Structures

Has anyone seen or used one of these new HO RDA BUILDING, MIDDLETON MILLS, STRUCTURE, KIT that I see on Ebay. They say they are injection molded, and after some weathering they seem to  look pretty good.  For $35 that isnt too bad.

Old school Diesel meets new electronics

 I have two Diesels that I have had since I was a Kid, and have had them stored until now, I have 3 grandsons and want to get them involved in trains as our area does no longer have a train.. here is my question .. I have a shark nosed model power 723 a powered CN, and a Bachmann emd F9 Diesel CP Rail. I was wondering if it was possible to fit them both with DCC with sound.. or are they too old for an upgrade.

Kato Unitrack problem

Hello All

I am building my first layout, an HO Kato Unitrack "Black River Junction" 4 by 8 layout. The layout plan is here;

MRC 6200 needs circuit protection

The club has an old MRC 6200 DC cab and the throttle doesn't work - engines run full speed.  The cab I found out doesn't have any overload protection and what I read is the D1230 diode(s) have been shorted out.  When I change these diodes out is there a way I can protect this from happening again?

Reversing section help

Can someone please clear up the confusion I have regarding length of a reversing section? Some have said it should be at least as long as the longest train. Others have said it only has to be as long as the length of locos/cars with power pickup. Does it have to be the full length of the train if metal wheels are used on all the cars? Getting ready to design and lay the track in this section. Thanks.

Op Session before Prototype Rails at Cocoa Beach, Jan 5 2012

This is a short video of a little of the action on Tom Wilson's P&WV and John Wilkes L&N. I was dispatcher so I only caught a little of the action out on the layout but was I ever busy writing track warrants. Hope you enjoy.

Phoenix sound systems

I have installed a Phoenix sound system in my G scale shea. What I need to know is what type of cable to run from my computer to the port on the engine

More benchwork and lights

I haven't done as much as I wanted to this month. It's funny how all kinds of people suddenly remember you and have to come visit if you move to Florida. We have had friends and family stay with us since 12/27. Now everybody is gone and I can spend time building the railroad instead of entertaining them.

Anyway, this is what I could get done:
