Asphalt plant for Sweethome Alabama
I was looking for an industry to put on a narrow 4ft6in by 1ft board to hide one of the two fiddle yards on Sweethome Alabama and had a Walthers Asphalt plant lying around. A little bit of research showed that these are quite common in Alabama and the raw materials required make for some interesting freight traffic - covered and open hoppers and tank cars, with the occasional box car.
After a couple of weeks work, the scenery is starting to come together as I'd envisaged, although I needed two attempts to get the backscene photo right.
traction motors
Guys,
Evan built enough traction motors to fill our back orders on the RP25/88 40" wheel versions and have ten remaining.
We will have another batch of P87 40" versions ready this weekend.
If you have any desire, need, or want, get them when we have no lead time. They are hand assembled and made to order.
Thanks,
Christopher Howard

Show us your backdrops!
Lately there have been a number of postings in various threads about backdrops, so I thought that I'd start a separate thread to have everyone share theirs in one place. So if you've got hand painted, printed hybrid, or other style please share some pictures here. I'll kick it off with some backdrops from my Richlawn Railroad.

Expanding a NCE PowerCab
Question.
I need/would like to expand my NCE Power cab, but I’m having trouble finding the correct information.
My need centers around adding another plug in plate on the opposite side of my layout, and the ability to either move my Powercab to that plate, and/or plug in an additional throttle.
With that in mind, I’ve identified that I’ll need the following things
Need advice on removing stock grab irons
I have an older MDC/Roundhouse Sabine River Railbox and I want to remove the stock "grab irons" (more like small platforms). What is the best method to do so without damaging the exterior posts or gouging out the body? Any advice would help.

Looking For Code 55
My local hobby shop has informed me Micro Engineering is no longer offering HO scale code 55 flex track, despite it still being listed on their website. Does anyone know if this is long-term? Are there other manufacturers of code 55 flex track?
My future spurs are hoping for some good news.

Firebox Flicker Effects
Something to think about. Oil fired loco's primarily. Glow from coal fired loco's. Many here probably know that now.

Milestone - Downward Slide
Guys,
Our two drives are ready for programming and layout testing to get out the final bugs and prepare for production.
Here is the Blomberg based drive:
small layout desing - round one
Hi guys, if I can get the plan to upload, I'd like some feedback on my preliminary layout design.
It's HO scale, and has to fit into a small space - in this case a 6'x9' shed. One wall is concrete block, the others are timber with 12mm particle board lining.
Realising that unless I switch to N scale (which I don't really want to do) there's no way I'm going to get in a long mainline run, so some switching is going to be the order of the day.
