Changes & Additions Part 2
Here are the changes I am making in the Green Bay Industrial District on my CNW- Peninsula Division
I have removed all the scenery around the Coal Dealer & added a small piece of bench work with new facia in front of it. The second and most important thing is that I am adding the roads and parking lots to the rest of the area. I also have one more scratch built building to add and some back ground flats to add. I am going to do a "How I did it" post on my method of road construction.

Changes & Additions
Changes are a coming - Working on some changes in two different areas of my CNW layout. The first is the Hardwood Lumber Mill. I have removed all of the saw dust that covered the whole area, never did really like it. Also removed all the ballast from the track, added one new track near the log pond. I will be adding some type of road into the Mill, not sure if it will be dirt or gravel at this time. (any suggestions?) Reapplying the ballast, lighting the structures. I did add a concrete floor to the lumber storage shed.

Coloring deep water
I am using a wavy type of Lexan for a lakes freighter and Huelett scene. I am modeling the Erie docks in Cleveland Ohio. Any suggestions as to what color of paint I should use on the bottom side of the Lexan? If needed I will use a clear type of "water" treatment on the top surface. Any thoughts?
Bachman HO 44 ton diesel-cracked gears
I have newly purchased (used) HO B'man 44 ton diesels...one is the two motor version and the other is a newer (not DCC ready) single motor. Both have cracked gears but run "ok". NWSL p/n 2695-6 is available with wheel/axle replacements for the two motor...NWSL doesn't know if these parts fit the single motor...does anyone on the forum know...?
4x8 Alternatives
I started out building a 4x8 layout using a track layout package, senior twice around, I purchased from Atlas. I was a great learning experience and actually turned out pretty well. I built the table, did the wiring, put down the track, and built a great tunnel. Unfortunately, we moved and the table was too bulky to move with us. Besides, I wanted to use my experience from that table to build a better layout.
Helix / Storage Tracks
Hello:
Looking at the Columbia Cascade & Western's helix on Page 82 of the current issue I wondered if anyone had ever used a helix to feed a vertical wall shelf of storage tracks? Each turn of the helix could serve a storage track on a shelf. Plus you could see all the cars in each train before your eyes. If you had room for two helixes there would be no backing out of the siding. Since there wouldn't be a yard ladder all the storage track would be the same length. In the photo their helix would serve 7 tracks and only use 4" from the wall.

Integrating the Spline Helix into the Staging Level
I have been absent for a couple of months so this is what I have been doing since I finished the basic spline helix for my under-construction N-scale layout.
First of all, I do not use CAD for drawing the layout. I use old school sketches and presentation style programs, such as Powerpoint and/or Keynote, to draw the layout's support structure. See the sketch drawing of staging level below.
Re-gauging N Scale Bachmann 4-8-4
Hello.....
I was brought here a few hours ago by the thread that had to do with a Bachmann N scale 4-8-4 not negotiating tight curves.
On further investigating, I found out that a potential problem is that of the wheels being gauged correctly. I know that this must be done GENTLY, but just don't know what to do to decrease the gauge.
Or, am I correct in thinking that the wheels must be tapped down? That sounds like "what could possibly go wrong?"

First Kit
Good evening:
For a Christmas gift, my mother-in-law gave me a BTS Cabin Creek Series Rural Church kit. Since this my first kit it will be an interesting experience but feel I should try it since it was a gift.
So, a very newbie question. I plan on painting the structure pieces prior to assembly using Floquil Acrylic paint. I know both sides should be painted to avoid warping and then placed under a weighted object to keep flat. My question is does the paint dry quickly enough so it does not get all over the weighted object? If not, then how does that work?
MTH Loco Motor Control Using A Secondary Decoder
I have experience in DCC sound installations having completed approx two dozen locos using Tsunami decoders.
A problem I have is that my MTH SD70M-2 will not consist with these locos or others (QSI & Paragon 2) at my local Club.
