Please help identify these locos

Hey folks. We acquired a whole bunch of trains and I'm having a difficult time identifying these two engines. Please be gentle, I'm just learning.

As you can see, Loco #1 is hollow inside and has a "2" cast into it. It is 6-1/8" long.

Loco #2 is solid on the front half and weighs just under 1.5lb and is 6-3/8" long.

Thank you in advance for helping a newby learn the ropes.

Best Builders

Hey everyone,

Does any one know which Korean (but not limited to) manufactures are the best and what their contact info is. I wanted to start a couple of locomotive projects, other countries are fine also.  Not having much luck looking. Looking for the finest detail and durability.

Thanks for you help

Double Stack Container Cars on Truss Bridges?

Will double stack container cars fit on the Central Valley truss bridges,...single or double track versions?

I think those are about the tallest cars we need to accommodate?

Looking for layout lighting suggestions

I am in the process of building a new layout and am looking for suggestions for lighting.

The Fidalgo Island RR #10 – Installing the Lights – The False Start

At this point the lighting installation is 95% complete. The only remaining portion of the layout that needs lighting installed are the harbor modules where the car ferry will operate. That benchwork is fairly specialized and not built yet. It will be done later when I spend some time solely dedicated to finishing up the harbor area. The lighting for that section will be completed along with the benchwork.

This post covers all the lighting for the rest of the layout.

NY,V & N Rwy Roundhouse design and build

For the future New York, Vermont & Northern Rwy I’m going to need a good size roundhouse for my RR’s steam engines. I’ve always admired John Allen’s stone block walled roundhouse in both RMC and MR back when both magazines were publishing John’s articles. Just recently that desire to buy/build a copy of his roundhouse reared its head. So off I went in search of what might be found on the Internet. I never found any plans.

Realistic Steel Cable for HO Railcar Winch?

Need some advice. I'm modeling a winch system used to move railcars and need to simulate the steel cable.

The area is front and center on my layout, so I'd like to use something that looks realistic. This will be nonfunctional, lying on the ground along the track, and also wrapped tight around the winch drum.

I thought about small diameter wire or thread. What do you folks use? Maybe logging or crane modelers have a trick or two you can share?

Thanks!

Jack

Decoder, light, speaker and stay alive installation video.

This is a very comprehensive video on a DCC upgrade by a very competent installer.  It should serve as a reference to people wondering what it would take to do a full installation as well as parts of an installation or upgrade or a good compare for the experienced.  Larry Linger is a leader in the group of people who present DCC installations and upgrades on YouTube.  I hope you learn and enjoy this and other of his presentations!
