Centerville Branch

I finally got a preliminary track plan on paper.  This is closely based on Scott Perry's Heart of Georgia.  I have set this on the L&N Centerville branch, running south (railroad west) from Dickson, TN to Hohenwald, TN.  This means which ever way you are facing is always north.  The date is Summer 1953.  In my world, the L&N takeover of NC&StL occurred in 1952 instead of 1957.

Follow up results video.

I had posted this video kind of an afterthought the other day and I think it just got lost in the mix.  It really didn't explain my thought process on how I achieved these results so I decided to make a full "how To" after I had already done this locomotive.  This is just a short 2 min video showing just how well the older BB locos can run.

Athearn Genesis GP38-2 DL Issue

Hey Guys,

I have an Athearn Genesis Norfolk Southern GP38-2; Road # 5057; Model # G40627 w/ Tsunami Digital Sound Decoder.

Everything is working great except for a problem with this:

Athearn Mike

I have an Athearn Mike.  The motor runs, the wheels do not.  I want to remove the shell.  I called Athearn and they said to pull hard.  I've tried with no success.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Holding cars/trains on a grade

How do you guys hold cars or trains on a grade? I did check the archives and saw a couple of ideas using  wire and paint brush bristles. So what has worked for you? I have a industrail siding that will need something to hold the cars so they don't roll out to the mainline and  I have to hold a train on a grade while I do some switching. I don't want to loose that train as it will roll down the helix.  Brian

Any of you have some layouts suggestions?

February layout update

Greetings,

With no apparent end to this miserable winter, I've managed to get some work done on my room-sized HO layout, which models modern-day CP operations in West Toronto.

I won't repost it all in this space. If you're interested, you can visit my blog here
