Nearing completion on a module
A module, a work in progress! When it comes to details, I just can't get enough of it. The rental trailers are also works in progress, (they're 3D printed from Shapeways) still to go, weathering, highway cracks, oil stains, track signals and many more details need to be added. Hope you enjoy!
open gears
Are there any manufacturers that build N guage engines without open gearing in the bottom of the trucks?

DCC Installation In 040 Mantua Yard Goat Switcher Steam Engine
Here is what I have 3 mantua Yard Goat switchers. One has a bad engine the other two are fair runners. With that said if I am replacing a motor might as well replace all 3 and add DCC w/out sound.
Has anyone actually done this to this Engine? And what motor do you recommend using and what isolations need to be performs along the way?

Looking for SOUND recommendations
I have the following two silent engines. I am planning to convert to DCC and would like to know if anyone has suggestions for sound in the following.
1) NYC T-3
2) LIRR BB-3 box cab electrics
I have heard the generic sounds for these via three rail examples. Not being too impressed might there be better more appropriate sounds?
I have two rail O scale versions.
Thank you for any help or leads,
Sincerely, Transfer.
3D Printing!
I have just obtained a 3D printer as another hobby. Wondering if anyone else has done this and used it for model railroading? My first job was an n scale signal light bridge for our club layout. Turned out well enough to equip the whole layout. Anyone else have any experience with this kind of activity?
What is going on with Athearn?
I read at the end of this months MRH that four folks have departed or are about to depart from Athearn. After talking with Shane at a WGH show in January, I learned that Athearn has something like 12-16 employees total if I recall correctly. This means 25%-35% of their team is departing. That is not good in my eyes.
