Intermodals on the Letellier (BNML)
Hi, has anybody ever seen intermodals on the CN Letellier Sub (BNML)? I have not, except for 2 images taken by my dad (with me) on August 18th, 2005, here's one of them, at Parker Ave. (Mile 0.15):
Whatever happen to M.C. Fujiwara?
Anybody know where M.C. Fujiwara is or has been doing. I really miss his modeling posts!
Den,
Windows in the New River Mine kit
I don't like the windows in the New River Mining kit.
I've tried Sharpies, paint markers, etc with mixed results.
I also think that the stock windows are recessed too far back.
Has anyone found a replacement window from another manufacturer that fits?
Any ideas out there?
thanks.
Great Northern flat car query
Does anyone out there have a photo of a GN flatcar, preferably a side view of sufficient clarity to show the general arrangement of lettering (reporting marks, number in particular)? Ideally I'm looking for something pre-1930.
Thanks!

Trying to make trees (again)
I've tried to make my own deciduous trees in several ways and so far never liked my results good enough for the foreground of the layout. Today I had an idea so I tried again
For this test I made a simple armature from stranded wire I had lying around:

Weathering with Artist's Acyrics
I've started a new adventure, using Artist's Acrylics for my weathering:
I much prefer the consistency and workably of artist's acrylics compared to craft paints. I'm still experimenting with technique, but here are some early results:
1940s America color photos online
The Denver Post has a nice feature of about 70 color photographs from America in the 40s. Great source photos, since most images from that era are b+w. Here is the link:

The link suggests this is several years old, so maybe this has already been linked here.-

N scale engine house parts = HO scale freight depot?
I have a place on my layout where I'd like to put a long freight depot. I don't really see any kits that match what I have in mind and even if i did, my budget is tight as usual. I had been mulling over ideas for scratch building something on the cheap and was going through some of my stuff when I came upon some laser cut N scale roof trusses and windows for a two stall engine house.
Middle school model RR: the golden spike
A few years ago I saved the slats from an old, cheap bed that my daughter wasn’t going to use any more. I knew I’d find a use for them eventually and sure enough, we needed quite a few risers. In fact the slats were very good quality fir, much nicer than the 1x2 furring strips we’d used for the rest of the benchwork.

I would like to instal a decoder into a spectrum self propelled (DC) ballast spreader. There is very little space. Can anybody suggest a decoder that would fit ? hardydittmar
