SMA17 – Cheap Flicker Free Car Lighting for DCC, DC, and AC – a New Kind of KAOS
Model animation—bringing models to life—adds enormously to the interest and enjoyment of any layout or individual model! Recently a fellow modeler (George hohon3) asked if there was a simpler and cheaper way to have flicker free car lighting in his passenger cars, without expensive keep-alive circuitry. I gave him some solutions already known in the hobby, but these were not satisfying him, nor me. I even referred him to the battery KOAS article in the November 2014 issue of MRH – but no, he wanted something simpler.

Sue Lines Used to Reroute UP Traffic
This is a very well done video, good to get the UP fan blood flowing. Some very nice camera angles and close ups.
Florida City On FEC 5th District
After the hurricane of 1935 FEC abandoned the Oversea Railroad to Key West. The end of the line was MP 396 just south of Florida City. The whole area south and west of Miami was still fairly rural and a large produce growing area. My HO scale Florida City is based on a track diagram provided by former FEC engineer Richard Beall. I used modelers license and moved Naranja Quarry about 6 miles south and replaced the Farmers Market track. I like rock trains.
blast holes
As I drove out I-80 w. in northern NJ a while ago, I saw that there are some respectably good-sized rock faces along the highway (New Jersey isn't all flat, you know!), and something else about them as well. There are vertical grooves on the rock surfaces; what's left of the bore-holes into which they put the explosive charges to blast away the rock for the highway to go through. I don't recall ever seeing these modeled (although I bet someone will pop up & say they've done it for years!).

More Scrap Box Fun
Tropicana Warehouse is open for business! Just completed an N Scale building for my brother, John Calhoun with a few small details added.
Using an arduino to inject DCC commands?
Hi All,
I''m hoping that someone with more EE knowledge than I have can help me with a project I've been working on.
My layout is DCC; I use an NCE Powercab (which supplies the power and DCC commands). My turnouts are DCC concepts Cobalts, with DCC decoders. I use the Powercab DCC accessory buttons to throw the turnouts. This all works fine. I also have numerous animations that are all controlled via DCC as well (via Tam Valley Singlet servo controllers).
Instruction Sheet for Proto 2000 Alco PA
I'm looking for a copy of the instruction sheet with exploded parts diagrams for a Proto 2000 Alco Pa. I believe the model is the early version from about 1995. I've searched the web but haven't found anything.
Operation session On the coal and steel railroad April 29, 2015
Operation session today on the Coal and Steel RR.
My regular operator and me, operated the layout today. I was dispatcher, we both took turns on being the conductor and engineer.

Sun City Model Railroad Club
Been watching this one grow for a couple of years it looks complete but not finished. This is outstanding work for a public model railroad group.
