How does your NMRA Division operate

Hello,

I'm having a pretty nasty fallout with the NMRA currently and was just curious if there are other divisions with similar practice as the Allegheny Plateau Division (APD) of the Mid Central Region.  The county I reside is/was looking to be moved from the Niagara Frontier Region to the Mid Central Region.  Up until 5 years I had attended meetings with the members of the APD but was a victim of the fallout of the great insurance crisis.

Backdrop Photo

Trying my hand at designing my own backdrop using GIMP, a free downloadable software program similar to Photoshop.

I think I may have messed up my layering, as the sky tone goes from a nice soft blue on the right to purple on the left.

Anyone else out there using GIMP know what is going on? I can't find anything in tutorials to help, though I suspect it's some feature or function of the layering, as I am adding each image a a layer.

Photo post test

Scene from Waterbury CT on the New Haven RR circa 1947.

Photo test..

It worked!

Is there a particular size / resolution / pixel that the photo needs to start out at in order to upload it? I tried to upload some secions of my layout and it wouldn't take. I shot them at 12 Megapixels. I am guessing that is too large to upload?

Custom HO Scale Traffic Light

In a previous post, I mentioned using SMD LEDs to make my own traffic lights - I remembered taking step by step photos of the process, but I forgot where I put them and wrote it off as a lost cause. A few days ago I found the files in an unlabeled folder - looks like this post will happen after all!

Horseshoe & Cottonwood Update #2

This weekend was another whirlwind of construction on the H&C.  The second peninsula went in and subroadbed was graded up through the first switchback in Lubkin Canyon.

On the plus side:

I was able to keep the grade down to 2-2.5% which seems to be about it for blackstone HoN3 locos with any decent size consist in tow.

NScale.net: the dreaded 404

Been trying all day to get on the nScale.net site without success; the homepage simply would not load.

Just a few minutes ago I got the dreaded "404" message, which then morphed into a host web server page saying site was no longer available.

Anyone know if this is just a prolonged interruption due to a server being down? Or are they moving to a new server?

Chooch Flexible retaining walls

Has anyone used the Chooch Flexible retaining walls? I am in need of a large retaining wall. Probably about 20 of the Chooch pieces. At $11.00 each, that will be pricey. I would like to know how well the will adhere (to masonite), if they will unstick at the edges and curl up, if they will work with Magic Water or Envirotex for a river abutment and not warp or become distorted. Any help would be appreciated.

HOn3 EBT in a 10' x 12'?

Hi all,

I'll be moving into an apartment and will have a 10' x 12' bedroom for a layout and office/work area. What I'm looking for is an operations oriented HOn3 East Broad Top track plan (single or double deck) that includes major points, both scenic and operations wise, and an area in the room for a workbench/computer desk. Any ideas? Thanks!

B&M N Conway Station

Hi

I am in the process of building an HO model of the Boston & Maine N Conway New Hampshire RR station.

I am looking for drawings or blueprints of the station.  It was designed by Nathanial Bradley, a prominent Boston architect in the late 1800's. It is unique Russian Victorian design and on National Preservation List.
